Times being displayed incorrectly
Just noticed a post made, I assume last night with the following non existent time ....
Not sure if its a new glitch arrived with the latest update or a known one from before
August 23, 2016, 12:44 am
There seems to be a conflict here as am/pm and the 24 hr clock are being shown
12:44 can never be anything other than 16 mins before 1 o'clock in the afternoon (pm)
44 mins after midnight is 00:44 not 12:44

Re: Times being displayed incorrectly
Surely, if you are using the 12 hour clock with am/pm then a time of 12:44am is perfectly correct.
My times on UdonMap are 12 hour clock am/pm & not the 24 hour clock.
For example, if I look at the latest messages I see this.. & not 14:36
I am unsure if that is a choice I made via the User Control Panel a long time ago as there appears to be the possibility for a member to chose which system (24 hour or am/pm) they wish to use there...

Re: Times being displayed incorrectly
Bob a TWELVE hour clock can only EVER have twelve hours never 13 which is what is required for 12;44
Re: Times being displayed incorrectly
Under the 24 hour time system you are correct.747man wrote:Correct Statts...................

You are incorrect under the 12 hour system..
Re: Times being displayed incorrectly
There never is a 13th, hour under the 12 hour system.stattointhailand wrote:Bob a TWELVE hour clock can only EVER have twelve hours never 13 which is what is required for 12;44
After 12:59.9999am comes 1am.
There is no 0 hours under the 12 hour system & so 0:44am is impossible, that is where you are mistaken...
Re: Times being displayed incorrectly
Which clock method to use is User Controlled via the User Control Panel..
Re: Times being displayed incorrectly
The big problem is that the 24 hr clock is just that 12:44 is 12 hr clock which means either 12:44 am or 12:44 pm.
If using the 24 hr clock it is 0044 if AM or 1244 if pm, simple.
What you may not know is that at its inception there was no 2400, rather it stopped at 2359 and started at 0001, after abiref spell about mid to late 60's They decided to adopt the 2400 as an international rule which brought into effect 0000:01 and so forth
there was a time when you could hit an officer at exactly mid-night when in the armed forces and not be charged as the time did NOT exist.
Interesting useless fact but you should never mix the 12 hr and 24 hr clock which I am afraid our host country does with gay abandon.

Re: Times being displayed incorrectly
There are many Thai institutions that use 24 hour times just as their western counterparts do.
Military
Hospitals
Emergency services
Aviation
Industries using GPS.
Shift workers perhaps with time stamp log in

Are we in agreeance that:-
There are two main ways to show the time: "24 Hour Clock" or "AM/PM":
24 Hour Clock: the time is shown as how many hours and minutes since midnight.
AM/PM (or "12 Hour Clock"): the day is split into:
the 12 Hours running from Midnight to Noon (the AM hours), and
the other 12 Hours running from Noon to Midnight (the PM hours).
And are we also in agreeance that AM stands for Ante Meridiem (or before midday), and PM stands for Post Meridiem (or after midday)
So that being .....why is a time 44 mins after midnight or 12 hrs 44 mins after midday not shown as 12:44PM (12 hrs and 44 minutes POST MERIDIEM or after midday)? :-"
Re: Times being displayed incorrectly
It is numpty.
And as for my relationship with our hosts, I mentioned that as the provincial Governers office pout out a time once that said 14.22 am or 02.22 pm and in pointing out the error to his secretary I was told that was the way the advertisers did it. Go figure.

Re: Times being displayed incorrectly
Statts, if you can point me towards any source that agrees with you then I am more than happy to read it.
i.e. that 12:44 am is not an official way of viewing that time under a 12 hour clock.
Good luck, as you are wrong!!!

Bob, I was aware after your initial post, that I was wrong and that what you were saying agreed with wiki etc etc, what i was trying to ascertain was why It just didn't seem to make any sense when other measurements of time start at 0 (years etc). Just shows that you can learn sumfink new every day (spellins on the agenda today )

Re: Times being displayed incorrectly
Would absolutely agree with learning something everyday Statts...
The year one is strange as well... While, in most cases, reference to years would start at 0, I am not sure in the old (now apparently no longer used - AD/BC) system that there was a year zero.
But I am happy to be corrected if that is a misapprehension on my part..

Bob
Creationists say only a week. Busy one at that lol
I dont think Bon Scott from AD/BC would have worried what year it was back then.
