Has someone ***** around with the maps on Udonmap

Post by stattointhailand » February 20, 2015, 12:47 pm

I haven't had reason to look up the maps on Udonmap for about 3 years now, but today I needed to check where something was, and found that the maps dont download anymore. Is there a problem with viewing them now, or is it a problem my end (brain out of gear type 8-[ )

Given your distrust of all things IT statto, you must already have a hard copy of every map produced by UM. :D

Yes, the downloads of the map have been disabled. It's a typical case of one miscreant ruining it for everyone else. A real estate company downloaded the map, then blew it up to wall size and is using it in its office for marketing purposes. We sell those large, wall size versions of the maps. We met with the company and said that they could keep the map at no charge if they wanted to become a sponsor with a one year contract. They refused; and the police are dealing with them now. A bit of closing the barn door after the horses have left, I know....

might I humbly suggest then that a small note be put on the page to say that they do not work any longer, before anyone else (like yours truly) wastes time deleting cookies and switching computer off and back on again trying to see them :-k

I should imagine the map and it's associated sponsors represent a reasonable amount of your business. Are you working on an alternative solution so at least we can find them? eg. A listing with Google Earth as *.kmz links.

How pathetic. "Name and Shame" to satisfy your own embarrassing ego more like it.
The chances of naming the culprit here by Udon Map Admin is zero and from a business point of view its obvious why to anyone with any sense.
How much do you deal with Real Estate Companies Bandung Dero? so you can cross this one off your list. It's OK I know the answer.

Ok, I'm a map bloke and would love one as I have no idea most of the time where I'm going, especially when the missus is directing me with the same pointy hand motions like you see from the co driver in rally car videos?

Where can I get one? and how much?

I'm dealing with one now, as I type, here on the Gold Coast, QLD. A breath of fresh air, NOT some plagiarist "misfit" (who reminds me of you). WTF do you know about business? Don't see where you have ever owned one!

HI Barney,

I have one, it's pretty cool and very useful. Mine was about 2200 THB but that was like 2 years ago, -maybe PM "Udon Map" as he's got the current pricing.

Barney, just let me know (you can email to [email protected]) how large a map you would like and how you would like it mounted. Typical mounting options are not mounted (in which case it will be rolled up), or mounted on a plastic core backing. I believe that foam mount is also available. Once I have that info, I can get a price to you.

Regards,
