DM
Part of the problem: one reports numbers from midnight to 8AM, then more numbers 8AM to midnight, while another agency reports numbers midnight to midnight. One number is Udon-only numbers, another is returnees from outlying provinces (who are immediately tested and taken to quarantine). Another is Udon-only+returnees.

I suspect Udon went to red because of the overall numbers.....but few restrictions because the real numbers (Udon-only) are low.

Just for grins, I'd like to try my back on one of those card board beds.

Thanks Mr P , So thats confirmed then .... it is complicated and confusing with lots of different sauces , times and numbers ..

Udon yes its red but no changes in restrictions is a tad confusing .. and again its pure guesswork as to how the general population are informed on changing restrictions such as a curfew etc.

Still waiting for my BKK DELIVERY

Your help is needed
.
i'm looking for the official rule from Udon Thani saying that whoever comes from a dark red zone to Udon has to report himself to the local authorities on arrival for covid-19 screening.

i am pretty sure there is such a reporting requirement but can not find it on the web.
i'm also interested to see what charges are imposed for those offending this rule.

background:
i know of a farang and his thai wife finishing 14 days ASQ in BKK yesterday and flew to Kkon Kaen.
then they were driven by car to Udon at night without passing any checkpoint and without reporting.
i am not chasing anybody but it make me terribly angry to here such stories.
i am also not saying they are covid-19 positive - but the least one could have learned after 1 and a half year of global pandemic is to follow official rules whether they make sense or not.
regarding the delta variant it is possible to carry the virus without even noticing it.
so not to report to the local authorities is very selfish and dangerous for all people of Udon Thani.
and it is a offence for all the volunteers helping to fight the virus and setting up field hospitals around Udon.

so please help me find the official rule.
i have 3rd hand connection to forward it to the said mr. and mrs. "super smart".
:fryingpan:
TIA

I hope you find that edict, it does exist. I am pretty sure this is covered in a snappy graphic that's already been posted on any one of several official Udon Thani local government or health department FB accounts. If mrs. "super smart" has a FB presence, I am sure she will be able to find the rule. Getting it translated may be a job for parrot. Since there's mandatory quarantining of bus loads of travelers arriving from Bangkok and the south and they were testing and siphoning off those arriving by air, it is self-evident that the policy exists in writing somewhere.

I acknowledge that if I re-enter Thailand right now, the 15 day quarantine in BKK will be followed by another one if I find a way of getting from Bangkok to Udon. With one train, one bus daily and no flights, the authorities have a relatively easy task to intercept the drive-in rule breakers like the flankers from KK. If they have checked in with he local obortor and being allowed home self-isolation, that's up to the orbortor. If they are simply going about their business as usual, then they are KNOWINGLY continuing the breach the committed with the inter-provincial drive and should be called for it. I can understand your anger and I would be similarly upset if I knew a farang rue-mahk or a Thai mai bpen rai attitude had prevailed here.

Despite probably being a law issued under the never ending State of Emergency decree, I think the authorities wish to promote it as a rule and although the fines and penalties were mentioned at the outset, they seem unwilling to keep re-stating them. Trying to save what's left of their myth of bringing happiness to the people maybe? It's time they got serious and hammer the willful breaching of the travel rules rather than busting private poolside parties in Phuket and behind-the-doors drinking in Pattaya shophouse bars.

When my wife and I left ASQ in mid-March, we were given a stack of certificates/medical reports showing our 3 in-country PCR tests and clearing us of any covid symptoms. The folks coming out of Bangkok ASQ aren't the ones to be worried about.......I'm not so sure I'd say the same about someone coming out of the Phuket 'sandbox'.

FWIW: When you enter Central/Tesco/MK/Big C, you do a hand scan for temperature and then you're supposed to sign in for contact tracing if necessary. Everyone is doing the temperature scan.....but I'd venture a guess that 90% aren't signing in.

I'll see if I can dig anything up on the official rules......if someone has the government decree that details that, send it my way and I can translate it. But by this time, there are dozens of decrees.....and sorting through them?

Steps to follow when returning to Udon

1. Contact the officials of the amphur identified in your house paper (tabien ban)

2. Arrange a day/time/place for return with the officials

3. Travel to the arranged location

4. Exit at the (arranged) Udon location

5. When you arrive at the Udon location:
- People who are sick with Covid will be immediately cared for
- People who have not contacted covid (I assume they’re tested at the checkpoint), will be checked and sent to quarantine for 14 days in their respective amphur

The chart doesn't state what happens for travelers who have been vaccinated.....or recently tested.....but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that someone coming from ASQ would be waved through. I'm not saying how thick that limb is, though.
