The lack of evidence lockdowns actually worked is ...

Post by RLTrader » May 28, 2020, 3:52 pm

The lack of evidence lockdowns actually worked is a world scandal

There is still not a shred of real proof that the planet's reckless stay-at-home experiment made any difference.
It should also be a sobering moment of enlightenment for Britain, as we seek to salvage our economy while learning lessons on how to better protect the vulnerable.

Covid was burning out naturally before lockdowns began.

Instead the Covid narrative becomes ever more surreal.

Which brings us to the central reality of this crisis, almost too horrific to consider: that the truth will come out when it’s all too late.

Where was COVID burning out by itself? Countries and dates? I don't think that is the case anywhere in the world.

My company has finished building a worldwide model on COVID, what has been shown loud and clear that the strategies that worked to curb the spread were, Widespread Testing, Border closures, Social Distancing and Lockdowns.

Three noteable countries that ignored these, Sweden, Belarus and Brazil. I would calculate Sweden as a failure at the present, a lot of deaths, Belarus and Brazil are absolute disasters.

What is yet to be calculated is the cost of lockdowns, nobody is game enough to put a value on each death.

I'm sure your company has done a great job and I can see the strategies all except Lock Downs
In the history of the world it's been isolate the sick not the vast population who are well.
my post above is about Japan another country that did not follow world lock downs
Here's a quote your gonna love
Quarantine' is when you restrict the movement of sick people.
'Tyranny' is when you restrict the movement of healthy people.

Hi CJ,

As COVID was a once in a century pandemic, shutting down the whole country while governments tried to figure out what to do was not unreasonable.

What they should have done was to then come up with a more refined approach. If a region was a red hot bed of infections, isolating that region made sense as it was not easy to identify who had the virus and who did not, you could not identify who was potentially sick and who was really healthy.

Now we see weeks and weeks of regions being COVID free, I agree, locking down healthy people in these regions does not make sense.

This of course has an override, People from Yorkshire should all be placed in permanent lockdown on account of their accents.

Exactly, the problem is there's no end in sight
You'd almost think our "leaders" are power mad.
I'd appreciate your analysis of the US data in my reply to RL Trader
I was drawn to the amount of deaths with underlying conditions.
may lose internet as large storm about to hit and as usual power will be cut off

And like I mentioned on the other thread, early on it was clear that certain age groups were virtually non affected.
The shutdowns could have been more focused on the vulnerable, and should be now also.

Has Covid even peaked yet?

But we already have all these expert analyses of what worked, and what didn't.

it's peaked in those places where effective measures were put in place, it is out of control in others. What's worse, is how some will treat 2nd and 3rd waves. They will deny to cover their Ar$e$.

Sure, but in the absence of testing, how do you know who's who? Better safe than dead.

Well Thinker
as you feel it's not over yet, what's your decisive solution
should we all skulk until there hasn't been a reported case for 1 month, 3 months or perhaps 10 years or ?
I'll defer to your superior medical and scientific knowledge.

point taken, however every time we leave our homes we are at risk of death or injury from something or somebody
in the history of the world there have been countless disasters and pandemics IMHO the aftermath of this enforced lock down in both social and economic terms will make the current unfortunate deaths seem insignificant and I'm not being flippant or uncaring

absolutely not, you gave an opinion and I'm asking for your criteria on how long the world should be shut down until we (me) rabbits can venture forth and perhaps get run over by a Thai driver or motorcyclist
