Have to laugh at the crap that is produced daily for propaganda
One minute the complaints are they cant read English
Next they have a long list of complaints about no food delivers
But the food was delivered in boxes which were left in the hallways
These boxes may have contained pork but who knows they were left
No problem talking to the media

It seems the skies over Melbourne are little bit cloudy at the moment. The border with Victoria has been closed.

The loony left state government in Victoria has encouraged the rebellious and reckless behaviour which now puts Victorians and by default the rest of the Australian population are now being put at risk and escalating a second COVID wave.

So you wouldn't be too impressed with Mr. Trump's circus? :-k

I thought the problem was principally caused by a couple of young Victorian men having a bit much lead in their pencils. I hope nothing can be traced back to the Kxng of Melbourne, Shane Warne.

Fair dinkum both get wholly suspended sentences. No time served.
Surely attacking police officer warrants much more than a feather touch.
What’s going on in the judicial system.
Both should have been sentenced to the minimum 12 month sentence which automatically gets them deported after time served.

Cant believe it Barney, and this is where the Judges need to take a long hard look in the mirror

So the sister uses the Policewoman's handcuffs to restrict the Policewoman from defending herself, while the low life brother presumably is choaking the Policewoman. And then the sister get to walk on on a SS. The Judge should be disbarred as well for misconduct. :-k

I wouldn't have picked Brisbane as a place, to have a bunch of Soft C..ck judges. Bring back Joh B P

It must have changed a lot since I was there [-(

Government has slashed the numbers allowed to return each week to 4000
and the cost of quarantine not to be the federal gov but each state decides who pays
and once there you have to apply to be able to leave
just a few more hoops to jump

NZ should do something similar on the numbers and costs. We seem to have about 3 people a week escaping isolation after arriving. These morons don't realize once their name is released when charges are laid that they might have problems for life (e.g. getting employment).

Plenty ockers speaking in tongues on this thread with inferences to dirty foreigners in quarantine hotels, fornicating hotel security guards and the "loony" Liberal State government being the cause. All this without reference or citation while creating an allusion to the health-conscious and socially responsible (possibly white) Melburnian victims.

Is the following an accurate account of why there's been a spike in infection in Victoria?

The people in isolation are returning Aussies and Kiwis rather than foreigners. In NZ the "bad" attitude is to returning Kiwis. That includes citizens and those with rights to permanent residency. It's extremely difficult for a foreigner to get in. It pisses me off as a NZ taxpayer paying for hotels for returning Kiwis who haven't paid taxes here for many years. And then a very small minority of them are misbehaving. One slip up and it could cost us billions if we have to lock down again.

No it is not an accurate reflection.
The report is 3 weeks old.

The New York Times talks up a little ray of sunshine in Scotland:

The Scots are nearly as sensible as folks downunder. ;)

^^ The latest spike started about 4 weeks ago after the 3rd phase of restriction easing?

The article I linked came up top in my googling "why covid spike in Vic" so if there are any newer and more accurate articles from the Aussie media that addresses that question, please share.

Despite her politics and irritating personality, Scotland's First Minister has consistently delivered clear and understandable daily updates and notifications on restriction easing. Compared with the Tories daily clown circus of "deep regret" for deaths interspersed with ad-hoc and clearly non-scientific obfuscation, the Scots are being better served.

Meanwhile, back Downundah...

I think the best reporting in Oz usually comes from the ABC but that observation will attract a chorus of objections:

We've been pretty lucky so far up in Queensland but it would only take a one idiot as they say to start a mess like they have down in Victoria at present.
Social distancing, yeah, good idea but all the places one goes, it is established when one goes in the front door or the checkouts ( if you're lucky) other than that, it's don't give a rats arse.
So if it decides to hit, it'll rock the socks off the boofheads.
Sort of puts a new twist on the "Brisbane Line ".
Really going to miss our usual 12 monthly visit up to Thailand and want to wish all the best to the guys living up there.
Can see this going on for a couple of years at least until there is a breakthrough with a vaccine.
Take care fellas.
