One problem with managing this pandemic is that there seem to be heaps of irresponsible selfish people in every country.

The variety of graphs show a lot but can also conflict
Just a look at the Graphs of France vs NZ. Both appear to have Lock downs of similar duration's and at similar times, but the results if measured by new daily cases numbers over the past 4-6 weeks are totally different. There are variables during the lock down such as demographics, whether the people actually comply with it and also if the people wear their masks and clean their hands, during the lock down period.
To a large degree, the success of the lock down or the non success of it, depend on peoples daily habits and or compliance to sensible health care routines. You can spread the virus inside the walls of your home and it only takes one irresponsible family member to go outside and give it to a neighbor.

The death president has brought the numbers dyeing in the US back to where they had dropped to almost a month ago while bringing the numbers of cases to almost twice what the were then.
He is claiming that the USA “is in a good place”

Sadly the USA has breached the 70,000 new cases per day.
Statistically the death toll is likely to go above 1,000 per day again within a few days as well.

1,000 isn't an upper limit either. With Mr. Trump leading the American response to this virus, the US is sadly in deep shxt. Fortunately an election is approaching.

How long until that will make any difference?
More than twice the time the virus has been active in the USA?
Even if/when he is replaced it’s going to be really hard to solve the problems he is causing and the division’s he is creating.
The death leader will easily have enough time for the numbers of the USA COVID-19 dead to get to the number 3 cause but maybe he is aiming for number 1.

Yes, way too long. And yes, really hard. Particularly since many Americans seem to hold science in such low regard.
I had been wondering if any government might decide to make a bigger effort to get its residents into better shape:
https://www.theguardian.com/society/202 ... econd-wave
Covid 19 is much more dangerous to those in poor health. The obese Johnson seems to have realized that a bigger effort to slim down Britain might save British lives. Fat people and in particular fat gents seem to be much more likely to die from Covid 19.

Over 71,000 cases in the USA again
What the Orange considers to be important now! This is a current picture it is not historical.
How has a nation allowed itself to be brought so low by the actions of a single person?
But at least she doesn’t have the same job as the orange

A bit of perspective:
What a dope.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/18/opin ... e=HomepageFlorida has, of course, become a Covid-19 epicenter, with soaring case totals and a daily death toll now consistently exceeding that of the whole European Union, which has 20 times its population. But DeSantis won’t contemplate any rollback of the state’s obviously premature reopening; he even refuses to close venues that are perfect coronavirus incubators.
What a dope.

Over 1,000 dead per day again!
There is a possible 15 day Trailing link added from infection to death, I don’t know if 15 days is the most accurate.

And the do nothing disinfectant suggesting Bunker Boy has resumed his Coronavirus briefings. Biden doesn't even need to bother to campaign if Trump is back doing these briefings and a thousand plus Americans are dying a day. Bunker Boy will be shxtting all over his own electoral chances.

The New York Times looks at what went wrong in Europe and in Blighty in particular:
Asia 5 Europe nil.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/20/worl ... italy.html... Britain reported its first death from the virus on March 5. Across Europe, the number of confirmed cases was doubling every three days. Much of northern Italy was already locked down. Testifying that day before a parliamentary committee, Professor Whitty, the chief medical adviser, was steady and comforting. Slightly hunched over a table in a small hearing room, he told lawmakers to place their trust in Britain’s modelers.
They were “the best in the world,” he said. “We will be able to model this out, as it starts to accelerate, with a fair degree of confidence.”
Despite alarming reports from Italy, he said, there was no way yet to predict the virus’s ultimate punch. But he emphasized that Britain had “quite a long period” before the outbreak would peak, and said modeling would allow the government to wait until the latest possible moment before imposing social restrictions.
“We are keen not to intervene,” he said, “until the point when we absolutely have to.”
Mr. Johnson was even more sanguine. “It should be business as usual for the overwhelming majority of people,” he said that day in a television interview.
Asia 5 Europe nil.
