Tourist lift tipped for Pattaya
Bangkok Post
27/01/2021, 11:23

CHON BURI: Tourists are expected to soon start flocking back to Pattaya amid a far brighter Covid-19 outlook and with the mandatory 14-day quarantine no longer being enforced.
The president of the Thai Hotels Association Eastern Chapter, Phisut Sae-khu, said Chon Buri might be removed from the government's list of "red zones" after it reported zero new infections several days in a row.
Mr Phisut called for the loosening of restrictions, saying business people were facing a serious liquidity problem and many small- to medium-sized hotels had already gone out of business.
Nor could anyone yet predict how long it would take surviving businesses in the province to fully recover, he said.
The association president added that the province's lifting of the mandatory 14-day quarantine period for visitors to Pattaya offered some hope to the tourism sector.
Businesses in Pattaya and the local office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand were working together to promote the city's tourism, especially during the Songkran Festival in April this year when the pandemic is expected to significantly recede, he said.
Pattaya would also be re- branded with a focus on daytime activities, said Mr Phisut.
Meanwhile, Chon Buri governor Pakarathorn Thianchai said he had informed the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) of the province's recent zero case status.
Therefore, the easing of re- strictions in Chon Buri can be expected soon, he said.
Read that and by the time I had stopped laughing Bangkok Post had pulled the article. Its always a spokesman for the Hotel Association or for the 'really' big fantasies someone from TAT. Its all back to normal for 2021 Songkran!! Anyone taking bets.

Hehe, didn’t notice the article had now been pulled. I did notice it was on line 3 times in as many hours, the cut & paste job is the third publication.

So has anything changed in the last 2 weeks ref inter provincial travel during the recent covid second wave.

Just back from a lengthy trip , started Monday morning requesting travel clearance docs and any new advisory info relating to our normal business activities from Udn city Hall ..all as before 2 weeks ago Morchana installed and active , plus advised if possible not to gather , visit restaurants and stay in Hotels etc in and agree to testing en route by officials who also inspect the MC App ... nothing really changed..

Our Schedule was Ud to Bkk direct , Bkk to Buriram - Sisaket - Ubon - MSK - Kalasin - KK - arriving back in Udon at 6pm this evening .. covering approx 1900 kms ... at no time did the App tell us we were entering a risk area.

So heres what has changed

Not a single MANNED road check let alone any temp taken or phones checked the only one document we completed was in Buriram to the local Pooyaiban to log we had visited our house there .. , NOT ONE CHECK in the best part of 2000kms visiting numerous provinces.

We still have to go to the Udon public health center within 48hrs of returning as before .

Just as info for anyone thinking about traveling at the moment.

On a economic business front our Isan customers are starting to get back to ordering as normal after the last 4 weeks of people being careful fearful of a full nationwide lockdown ..

Did you have a PCR test before you started or anytime thereafter? Do you have to quarantine after you arrive back in Udon?
Our Pooyaiban says my daughter has to quarantine for 14 days if she comes to Udon from Bangkok. Presently she is in Bangkok and her university is closed.

More info Gus..

No test related to getting the right to travel clearance from Ud city Hall ..just our company papers and licenses etc to prove our business is real and active plus the Morchana app installed and active.

No 14 day quarantine when leaving Bkk and going to other provinces and returning to Udon.. where we go to the Ud public health for a check up etc within 48 hours.

Our trips are non stop (makes a difference we dont reside in BKK) we dont stay anywhere any length of time and follow the advisory from city hall ref no gather meetings etc .. the only check was in the village in Buriram where our house is .. temp check and doc filled out even tho we only called in and stayed for just a few hours.

I am under the impression anyone who usually resides in Bkk perminantly returning to a family in Isan / Udon home would have to 14 day quarantine.

The Morchana app tracks movements and tells you if entering a risk area... at no time did it inform we are in a risk area this was Prawet district , Onut and Sukaphaiban just off motorway RR9.

Talk of starting to lift some restrictions in Bkk from 1 st Feb .. only the districts of Bkk that border Samut Sakorn (South of Bkk) are full on red zones also a couple of districts in the North of the City...but all Bkk is under the same rules for closures etc.

The traffic on route especially in and around Bkk is very very light as many working from home and schools closed etc .

Etihad and Emirates cancelling many flights at the moment. I know of many people who are booked on their flights from the UK who havent seen their Thai family and partners for 12 months and are having to rebook with Qatar at a premium. They have the added rigmarole of having to amend their Certificate of Entry and other documents at the last minute.

Any discussion been noted regarding,
Will the Covid vaccine need to be renewed (Booster Shots) and if so how long before shots are required?
