Travel Heads up.. not that many will wish to go there at the moment but ...

My Bizz partner in bkk just called me to confirm FROM TODAY entry into Bkk is now banned for anyone without the correct documentation issued at the local Tessaban office from which province you are traveling from. Not sure how this will be policed but road blocks are set up on Motorway 9 which is in effect the main BKK Ring rd... Travel also banned between BKK and Patts.

Wattana Hospital is taking vaccine reservations for people of 60 years old and older.
042-21988. The lady's name is Cheri.
You need a pink card or a Thai ID card.
This is for the government vaccine.
My appointment is June 16 am.
They will notify me of the exact time.

8 Thai hospitals are temporarily closed after patients hid the fact that they were infected with Covid-19 and passed the virus on to hospital staff. Other staff members have had to self-isolate. According to Thai PBS World,

I believe it is free. The second jab is dictated by the guidelines of Astrazeneca. I believe it's 4-12 weeks.
Also you can register for the vaccine on the Mor Prom App from the government.
"Registration will be via the Mor Prom LINE account this May 1st, with an estimated 16 million people eligible."

Thanx mac, is it safe to assume the app will give you options to other hospitals who are preparing to deliver the vaccine?

The app certainly allows you to select one of the participating hospitals. Udon hospital is one Wing 23 is another.

However I am currently unable to get past the first page as the number on the back of my ID card is not in the correct format.

Commenting that you were able to register before today is unhelpful as the app has been updated this morning.

If you have registered today using the line app that would be useful.

My understanding is that once you register you will recieve what the Government wants to issue for a vaccine. No selection will be made availalble

For those pondering Covid insurance, this looks better than roojai in that it specifically covers the effects of or reaction to the vaccine. Even if you have belt-and-braces C-19 coverage included in any existing health insurance package, this may be a good alternative in the event of C-19 related illness where a claim could kill any no claims bonus or blow your main insurance renewal premiums out of the water.

I believe the only vaccine available through this government program is the home grown Astrazeneca.
However, the employees at Udon Hospital received the Sinovac vaccine last month.
The Thai Astrazeneca is presently being produced. It has not been made availabale as yet.

A study of 61 patients shows that people who received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine have achieved 96.7% immunity within a month, compared to those who had recovered from the disease for 1-2 months, who have 92.4% immunity.(Thai PBS World)

Mrs tam was commenting on some reluctance to get vaccinated. She has heard of a couple of local health workers who were vaccinated where one has developed some severe health issues and the other one died. Of course there's no mention of pre-existing conditions or more precise information as to the afflictions suffered but it seems that's the basis for a mistrust of the vaccine. Maybe some other members whose partners are on FB and other Thai language channels already are aware of this or have more details? I believe Thailand's health workers all got the Sinovac shot.

I don't know who Cod Satrusayang is but he pulls no punches in his assessment here:
https://www.thaienquirer.com/27101/opin ... -poor-die/
Let us not forget how this pandemic started, at the super-luxurious “entertainment” venues in Bangkok’s upscale Ekamai and Thonglor districts. Entertainment is in quotes because it is the euphemism that the government are using so let’s humor them for a paragraph.

The truth is the outbreak started in upscale brothels filled with Bangkoks finest socialites and politicians including members of the current government. For a government that likes to preach about morality and doing the right thing, it is highly ironic that one of their cabinet minister (and his entourage) caught Covid at a whorehouse.

But the minister is not alone, a number of Bangkok’s princelings and CEOs frequent the same clubs whose name have now become infamous. There they caught Covid and spread it to their wives, sons, and daughters who then attended weddings and parties causing a virtual shut down of Bangkok high society.

Chaps using Mor Prom should be careful as there are some fake apps out there as the pic below shows.
You could be registering for nothing and giving your personal details to some unscrupulous person.

Thank you Mac.

My partner had been trying to use the Mor Prom app on LINE to absolutely no avail. I called Wattana Hospital on 042 219888, spoke to Cherie, sent a copy of my pink card and made an appointment for my jab. It could not have been easier.
