Just checked on the cases in Chaiyapum.pal52 wrote: ↑May 21, 2020, 12:37 pmThe bad part is that 1 was a German man who traveled from Bangkok to Chaiyapum where it looks like he picked up the virus.
He also visited a shopping mall before returning to Bangkok.
Hopefully he drove to Chaiyapum and did not use public transport.
Another was a old man suffering from cancer who went for a haircut in Bangkok & picked up the virus.
The other was in Quarantine the same as the last cases found.
Lets hope there is not a lot more infections from these cases or it will be time to get the beer stocks up again.

They have only had 3 cases and the last one was more than 30 days ago.
It is obvious that the German man took the virus there.
This Govt has allowed inter provincial travel from Bangkok while the virus is still active there as today's figures prove.
Lets wait and see what happens.
Hopefully all the safeguards were in place such as face masks and hand sanitizer available & used where he visited.
Re: Miscellaneous COVID-19/Corona Virus Discussion, Questions, etc.
^ From the news article, I don't see it as obvious that the German brought it there. It says while he was there, a relative had a fever but didn't bother getting checked. The German returned to Bangkok and his subsequent check up showed he was positive. There's no suggestion that the relative with symptoms ever tested positive and no suggestion that the German may be asymptomatic. The only two things we can be dead certain about is he's German and he went to Chaiyapum.

Here at the Posri Market and it's noticable how many Thai people have stopped wearing masks, it looks like 50% or so don't wear them now. I'm not sure it's a good thing but several of them seem to think the virus is all over.
The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.

Took the daughter to her first Badminton training tonight for a couple of months.
So sport team events must be ok now.
Different location and team from previous.
Lots of adults and kids playing and training when I went to pick her up.
Temp check going in and hand sanitizer available.

Kut Chap food stall this evening. Many not wearing masks
I had a bumper sticker in Texas that read 'Beam me up Scotty'. I often wish I could find one in Udon Thani

Not confirmed yet but looks very much like the emergency decree is gonna be carried on until the end of June .. thus covering the maximum 90 day block before it needs royal approval again ..
https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/ge ... et-to-stay
Couldnt see dropping the decree at the end of May as total control for as long as possible was always gonna happen from the outset even with C19 cases in single digits and most quarantined returners.
imo it will be very interesting to see what happens with regard to restrictions that stay in place for the foreseeable post Covid future when the decree has run its course.

Here's a report on the efficacy and accuracy of two test methods as evaluated by a leading US medical institution.
https://abcnews.go.com/US/mayo-clinic-d ... d=70803740
The first type of kits, the "instant" antibody test kit, are the same ones that a leading middle east airline had recently proposed for their own evaluation of who is fit to fly. I wonder if they had already selected one of the few brands that are FDA approved?
As the Mayo's medical specialists point out, there are dangers with the DIY approach to getting tested and the rush to get tests kits of both kinds out there has resulted in a load of dodgy stuff.
Has anyone looked for test kits on lazada yet?

Re: Miscellaneous COVID-19/Corona Virus Discussion, Questions, etc.
An odd experience really coming into Udon yesterday. There for bulk shopping in Makro, but also had to call into Central and decided to lunch there. It was fairly quiet. Face masks were worn and we were temperature checked on entry and set up the ‘phone check in/out business etc. We arrived as an apparent family unit, actually mum, dad, 8 year old son and niece. It’s very nearly a case of us spending 24/7 together, that’s living, eating, sleeping, washing, travelling etc. together. Of course, I support most of the initiatives to keep everyone safe, although I’m not certain of the value of some (e.g. scrubbing the streets, although it ‘looks good’). So, in the small restaurant, we were not allowed to sit together. My wife and I sat at one table, diagonally opposite and with a perspex screen separating us. (perhaps a good purchase on the days you’re not getting on? ). A similar arrangement for my son and niece on another table. So much for the family meal. Yes, social distancing is necessary, but in this scenario, surely a family group can stay together (they are together most of the time anyway), but the idea should be to separate one group from another?
I may be wrong, but in passing the usually, very popular MK restaurant, it looked as if only one individual was allowed at a table normally accommodating four! If I’m correct, that appears to be over the top.

seating arrangements interpreted differently by each restaurant.. Most are allowing 2 per table. Some say the government mandate is one per table. McDonald's in Central allows only one person per table..
