Truly cringeworthy article about Pattaya's lack of sexpats is headlining on Sky television news (UK) right now.

Heres a blast from the past ... DMs morning report !!!

Where once stood barren parched lands on the intersection of dreams tizz now transformed into green lush grass and gay meadow flowers (can i say that) , an amazing transformation has occurred with more to follow as the road construction guys move ever closer ..
Flower n Donut sellers marching along the traffic ques .... Brownie the Duck noodle bog was ill when i left n not been seen yet hope shes not croaked it , whitey the albino squirrel is still here and now with a non albino wife called her Choccy as shes half cast (can i say that) :D

The traffic is nose to tail with happy people waving and smiling, even a hey Jon call from a prominent UM member n his missus which i caught too late to respond.

After a period in the wilderness (and briefly my new Bkk Swampy digs ) ..is it good to be back in my Udon office .. the jury still out but i am looking forward to a proper fry up n Sunday roast as the rain mushed bright orange Isan mud , the local monks gonging at 3 n 6 am and frogs on toast washed down with sartor had got tedious.

Borders still closed to many but pubs n stuff open ..mask wearing a thing of the past unless in a shopping center .. social distancing    even happy endings back on the massage menu so they tell me!! .. many hotels remain closed as simply just no foreign punters only locals n incentive boosted domestic travelers.

To add to my earlier morning Udon report ..

I had to go into the town center today and the traffic was horendulous .. i must have got stuck behind every ****** on wheels including those old Chinese Thai motorbike riders who look beyond the 100 year mark ..

Most abnormal for me but had to do some internal banking where needed to go into a branch .. i can confirm the Krungthai bank is the pits .. diabolical in every way shape n form.. loads of staff little action PISS POOR service ..worst ive ever been party too in over 20 years here.

ON A HAPPY note The Gallery back open :D :D ..great to see Kevin looking so well and his food n service still top notch.

But who is actually going to come and stay under those type of restrictions and limitations? A wasted trip.

It would be better if, the Thai Government had one Official spokesperson, to deliver a weekly/fortnightly message of what is or might be the Thai Gov current thinking at that time, pertaining to, the opening of borders, opening airports, incoming & outgoing flight, business openings, re-entry of various Foreign Visa holders (and under what conditions), Visa Extensions & Medical Insurance, etc.. They started with something this, but the spoke person seems to have disappeared recently.

If not one person then two or three standing up at a weekly/fortnightly, conveying a unified government message on all related matters. No doubt this will avoid some of the miss information and speculation within the social media and general media, on where the Government may be heading with their various policies on this.

It would also prevent certain individuals in the various government departments, from opening their mouths without facts, purely to get their faces and names on TV, from time to time.

At present, the message comes across as one from a disorganized rabble, with members from department promoting a new idea or simply their own views, on what might be the future direction (particularly as it relates to tourism), when cameras are close to them. TAT say one thing, Thai Immigration another and then there are the Individuals.

If one reads between the lines of what is being said by the Thai Gov and what is released by the Thai media, one can probably surmise what the Thai Government thinking, but it is not absolutely clear.

From a personal point, I would like to see the Thai Gov lay out their steps for all groups of returning Foreigners and Tourist a like, initially just advising the order of priority that will be given to each Group. They don't have to define dates at this stage, just the order in which they will be permitted to re-enter. They have done part of it, but not all from what I have read.

Just my 2 cents worth \:D/

Well that's narrowed the field down =D>

In previous bigoted posts, you have ascribed that to the entire Thai population.

Was it this or is it another one at the Myanmar border

Seems like it is a very porous border up that way :-k

Not sure .. the report on Thairath showed selfies and FB posts from the ladies as they went " up the jungle " .. it appears a van was used at some point and conflicting news (Thaiger not same as Thairath) as too there movements etc and how many people came in contact with the woman as she was roaming about in shopping malls etc prior to testing positive.

I appreciate it must be very difficult to monitor the whole border and also this woman or women acted very irresponsibly avoiding checks and quarantine.. agree whether its down to good management or luck Thailand has been fortunate with reference to the pandemic but incidents like this could so easily start a wave.

DM... staying home alone today !!

Not long ago I was sitting sunning myself on the riviera & watched loads of little boats going back & forth to Laos.
The chap in the restaurant said it was easy if I wanted to nip across for a bit in his boat

Was the chap in the restaurant wearing lilac shorts and affecting an English accent?
