OK, maybe you aren't depressed and you don't crave Thailand's Covid control failure, but touting your gloomy "what if?" scenarios on TWO different threads?

My what if comment hopefully wont turn into n ..i told you so .. so far 10 karaoke "entertainers" done the Myanmar shuffle thus so now 699 in contactcwith them being checked and isolated .. with some good news the Thai authorities saying the situation is currently under control ..HOPE SO .. crazy sh8t like this proves it soneasy to have a second wave and really does also back.up the governments decision to not allow tourists back until next year ...

By the sound of it lots of bars getting cyber bell rings from lonely overseas patrons hunched over their keyboard in the bedsit sporting only a semi and ther I LOVE PATTAYA HAT dreaming of a dose ov soi 6 .

I thought it was only the Chiang Mai/Rai tourist jerk that were lamenting a quiet Christmas and Hogmanay due to the 10 errant "croupiers"? You mean Anutin and other space cadets have been talking about waving a white flag on tourists visiting all other parts of this blighted realm until next year? Or have they simply suggested that a repeat of the above faux pas could endanger things. A sort of "what if?" scenario?

Here's an insight into the Covid-19 disaster on Thailand's' west northwestern border.

"Daily cases increased from less than 10 per day in early August to over 1,000 per day in mid-October. This wave has overwhelmed Myanmar’s inadequate and understaffed health infrastructure. By November 20, there were 76,414 confirmed cases and 1,695 deaths"

Tachileik is in east Shan state which is one of the areas with the lowest incidence of cases according to the graphic. However, I haven't found any reference to a Tachilek cluster in their media.

Some theories on where the virus came from.

"Tachileik resident Moon Saing told Coconuts Bangkok that the virus spread at the 1G1 Hotel after a group of “fat military generals” from Yangon, where infections continue to rise, had sex with Thai women working at the venue."

Since Yangon has the worst rate of infection and the Burmese army are in charge, maybe not too far fetched.

150 Thai workers ask to be allowed home from Myanmar’s virus-hit Tachilek

"The Department of Disease Control says up to 150 Thai nationals have applied to return from Tachilek, as Covid-19 cases rise in the Burmese border town. The requests come as health officials attempt to trace hundreds who came into contact with a number of Covid-infected Thai women who crossed into the Kingdom illegally, bypassing health checks and quarantine. A man in Chiang Rai who had contact with the women has since tested positive for the virus."

NNT reports there were about 180 women working at the hotel and claims 84 have returned. We all know about the 10 that have been caught so no clue where Thaiger's 150 comes from.

Not sure of the precise chronology but maybe the pleas to be allowed to return was made after they heard that the police are going to charge the 10 infected women that sneaked in earlier.

"Pol Mag-Gen Prachuab Wonsook, commissioner of 5th Provincial Police Bureau, said today that legal action will be taken against the women, once they have recovered from the disease, to serve as a lesson to others."

Indeed Tam the Thai set up for track n trace does seem to be effective and well.managed ...

Lets hope all the Thais wishing to come back over the border from.Myanmar are allowed to but go thru the proper channels with quarantine etc .
