A little memory jogger - Please don’t use this thread for opinion, unfounded ideas, general chit chat and other unnecessary posts, the miscellaneous thread is good for that. Hopefully we will escape the worst of the virus but if we don’t we might need a point of reference where we can get important numbers etc without having to trawl through tons of garbage posts. That’s the intention of this thread, please only post IMPORTANT information as the topic heading says.

Updated information

Please note the Thai number to call if you have the virus is 1422 or use the number in the graphic below if you are farang.

- Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Stay at home advice
COVID-19 is a new illness that can affect your lungs and airways. It's caused by a virus called coronavirus.

Stay at home (isolate) if you have coronavirus symptoms.

Isolate for 14 days if you have either:

a high temperature – you feel hot to touch on your chest or back
a new, continuous cough – this means you've started coughing repeatedly
Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.

You do not need to contact 1422 to tell them you're staying at home.

Testing for coronavirus is not needed if you're staying at home.

Urgent advice: Use the 1422 coronavirus service if:
you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home
your condition gets worse
your symptoms do not get better after 7 days

How coronavirus is spread-

Because it's a new illness, we do not know exactly how coronavirus spreads from person to person.

Similar viruses are spread in cough droplets.

It's very unlikely it can be spread through things like packages or food.

How to avoid catching or spreading coronavirus

Wear a mask at all times when you are in a public space, make sure the mask covers your nose and mouth leaving as few gaps around the mask as possible.
Wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
Always wash your hands when you get home
Use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
Discard used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards
Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
Don't touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

Travel advice

There are some countries and areas where there's a higher chance of coming into contact with someone with coronavirus.

If you're planning to travel abroad and are concerned about coronavirus, see advice for travellers via the govt websites

Treatment for coronavirus

There is currently no specific treatment for coronavirus.

Antibiotics do not help, as they do not work against viruses.

Treatment only to relieves the symptoms while your body fights the illness.

You'll need to stay in isolation, away from other people, until you have recovered.

Please stay safe.

Some info re masks, their capabilities and how to use them safely, the bit that struck me was to clean your hands before you put them on, makes sense to me.

Prime minister Prayut said on Thursday there is no national lockdown order planned for Thailand, although the government will “intensify” measures following the outbreak of COVID-19 in Samut Sakhon.

Speculation had mounted in recent days that Thailand would be plunged into lockdown after more than 1,000 cases had been reported in the country since Saturday, the majority of which are linked to an outbreak amongst migrant workers in Samut Sakhon.

However, speaking ahead of the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration briefing, the PM said there were no plans to place the whole country in lockdown.

Instead, a new category system will be implemented in order to declare areas of risk throughout the country.

Red [Highly controlled]: High infection rate and at more than 1 location.

Orange [Controlled areas]: Located close to the red zone or more than 10 cases or growing rate of infections

Yellow [Under high surveillance]: Less than 10 cases

Green [Under surveillance]: No cases

Provinces in Red zone [Highly controlled]:

Samut Sakhon - requires urgent contact tracing, use of tracing apps, restriction of business opening times, close of non-essential business and cancellation of events and public gatherings. Check points remain in place.

Provinces in Orange zone [Controlled areas]:
Samut Songkhram, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom & Bangkok - No cross-provincial movement of migrant workers. Mass events are discouraged, but not banned,

Provinces in Yellow zone [Under high surveillance]:
Angthong Ayutthaya, Chachoengsao, Chainat, Chaiyaphum, Kamphaeng Phet, Khon Kaen, Krabi, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Sawan,Nonthaburi,Pathum Thani, Petchaburi, Phetchabun, Phichit, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phuket, Prachinburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Samut Prakan, Saraburi, Suphanburi, Surat Thani, Udon Thani, Uttaradit - Less restrictive than previous measures, people advised to work from home where possible but not mandatory.

Provinces in Green zone [Under surveillance]:
All remaining provinces - Regular COVID-19 measures in place

At the time of posting there has been no announcement regarding restrictions on the sale of alcohol or the closing of bars, pubs or restaurants. Any restrictions of this kind are only likely if a province is determined to be a ‘red zone’.

Not sure what this all means but it looks important enough to ask one of you to translate it.
