'nuther good reason to wear a mask.

If you have not been tested, then you do not know if you are a carrier. It does not necessarily protect, but it does stop those infected from spreading the virus.
Absolutely spot on. I think that the reality of being asymptomatic is lost on some who maybe think you're either uninfected (and healthy) or infected (and dead). Maybe they're scared of being infected? The sort that, if they could, would be happy to go through life testing themselves daily if it meant they could pop down to the pub or go to the dogs?

All a bit selfish I think.

From today they are cutting down on roadblocks and doing "neighbourhood cruises" to catch the party set

I think to put it simply, there are some who believe that wearing a Mask protects them even at 60kph on a Motorcycle.
There are also those who for reasons unfathomable believe that apart from going to BED, the wearing of a mask is required and get very upset if they see anyone NOT wearing one no matter where they may be even inside their own houses.

Masks by definition WILL NOT protect you from catching the AIR-BORNE VIRUS , unless it is a full face mask and even then you could catch it from touching something or even off your clothes after work as you take them off ( mask-less) before stepping into the shower. You could even catch it in your garden if the person passing coughs and you are the other side of the hedge and the solitary droplet travels the normal 6 odd feet and embeds itself in your mask-less nostril and infects you.

The wearing of a mask although I may personally think will do nothing in reality to protect me, is a sign you RESPECT what others think and therefore are showing a VISIBLE sign you understand the situation and are taking care . Mutual respect is worth a lot.

However having said that I do NOT wear a mask in my house , nor do my dogs or even the tame geckos . So far we have managed to get through unscathed with the use of Common-sense and good personal Hygiene. But life must go on as they say, enjoy it while you can as your a long time dead !

Lots of Covid-19 items on Thaiger. Can you provide a link to the "neighborhood cruises" item?

I think it was reference to the Police cruising through residential areas to observe any breaking of the conditions . Not that I have ever seen in 16 years the Police Cruising through any residential area near me in any event .

We’ve had them here in Ban Tad Paul but I’ve a feeling (my memory isn’t what it was) that they were doing it before the virus anyway.
The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.

late evening and into the curfew hours i see the BIB cruising the RR / AP intersection (with my permission of course) , they must have blinkers on or just not want the hassle of stopping violators.. last night again motorbikes trucks etc going up until DM needed his beauty sleep about midnight .. obviously i can comment on why they are out where they are going but out they should not be.

I spoke to mate in our rural Buriram village and they also are seeing several daily police drive thrus.

Gawd 'elp us DM. Google "essential workers".

This isn't a nationwide nightly shut-down. It's a night time restriction on socialising. Shops and businesses are trading. Our oldest niece now has permission to go and open the shop to receive goods and do restocking overnight. She rides a Honda Wave to and from work at Big C so probably would trigger your rather rudimentary non-essential worker alarm if you saw her but really she isn't.

Meanwhile, the inner city is like a graveyard. Maybe, instead of looking at the main arterial route around a large provincial capital, check the Udon city webcam site if you want to look at quiet roads.

Righty-ho, thanks for getting back on this. Until further notice, "pictures or it never happened" applies.

It looks like Buriram may be going the extra mile to needlessly harass their citizenry. On the other hand, nailing the "stranded tourist" partying in their Krabi, Phuket, Samui and Pattaya ghettos (low-hanging fruit) gets my vote.

DM was pondering if a quick inter-provincial, back-door, in-out would work (must be missing wotsisface down soi sampan?) but I reckon any farang popping up in the middle of the day in any moobahn would probably attract the attention of the public spirited local and we would end up reading about him on Thaiger, replete with his pixelated picture.
