Just back from the Bo Nam market in Nong samrong and was surprised to find the 7/11 opposite the market closed. The manager as well as 4 staff members tested positive for Covid this afternoon so they are closed for 3 days deep cleaning. Mood is weird around the market as still people continue to shop without masks while others are scurrying away from the non maskers.

While sitting at the traffic lights, I noticed more drivers masked up but that was only in cars where the tint wasn't too dark and you can see the occupants. If your window is down and you don't have a mask, some locals may give you the 'stink-eye' but they too would need a fairly light tint before you would notice them doing that.

I reckon wearing a mask while driving is like wearing a mask in your house. The government doesn't say you have to wear one in your house, ergo...

Dao read the official statement recently made reference mask wearing and it stated masks must be worn AT ALL TIMES when going leaving your home and into populated areas.. (where you will encounter other people was the exact wording)

IMO its not great issue to wear a mask and have on handily sitting on my chin whilst driving (even alone) in case theres a BIB check point at which time can just raise it as not to cause an issue... i was waking the dogs this morning circa 6;30 am very quiet and did not wear a mask as was alone and very quiet at that time... maybe i was acting incorrectly do that ..but just forgot.

Better get outside and take a "Selfie" (no mask) in preparation for my confession.

BTW other sources are saying the maximum fine is 20K????

Yes indeed it was first slated as a 20k fine but i assume this has been rethought as it clearly states 4000bt in the Bkk article... maybe the fine is set my the provincial governor and Udon is 20k ..dunno.

This guys mask is pretty cool.

The article is a little ackward on the masks. The requirement to wear a mask was added to Communicable Disease Act late last year. So it has been illegal to not wear a mask in all of Thailand for a while. There was however no specific penalty set for it, and it was rarely enforced. Surat Thani recently had someone charged under that act and fined 4,000. He confessed and the court reduced it to 2,000.

Now since that that time. just recently several provinces have issued their own decrees setting the penalty at up to 20,000.

The one for Udon Thani is here:

.
and to those who are still doubting about masks - here i stand and say:
even without fines - it's simply lifesaving!
.
imagine you not wearing a mask, catching the virus anywhere at anytime and from anybody, bringing it home not knowing you're infected, infecting your wf/gf, your children, they get very sick, they die …. want me to write on?
.
RESPONSABILITY is urgently needed now.
.
if you love your family and friends then wear that ****** mask all the time.
i'm fed up with all these discussions about inside car wear or not to wear etc. etc. etc.
use your brain - be a role model!
got it?
