It's looks like Johnson is half out the door. Any thoughts on his successor? The British Tories are a mess. They need to find a spine.
Whoever it is, just see how long it takes them to rehabilitate Matt 'the groper' Wanksock.

There are no good contenders. Only self important power hungry idiots. Hard to think of anyone with integrity (integrity rare in politicians anyway!).

Another development:
Details have emerged of what appears to be another alcohol-fuelled social event inside Downing Street during lockdown, one that was seemingly not investigated by police or the official civil service investigation.

According to the Mirror, between 30 and 40 staff drank alcohol and ate takeaway snacks to mark the final press briefing conducted by Boris Johnson’s then-spokesperson James Slack, on 17 November 2020.

A photograph obtained by the paper appears to show an official setting out bottles of wine and Champagne-type drinks. The picture was reportedly sent to No 10 staff on a WhatsApp group, in response to a message saying: “Time to open the Covid secure bar.”

The photo was then posted as a reply with the message: “The bar is open.” Other messages reported by the Mirror seemingly demonstrate premeditation in socialising, with one referring to “Wine Time Tuesday”, and others discussing going to buy “reinforcement booze”. One official says: “If someone can help me carry it I’m happy to go.”

I suppose this isn't a big surprise.

The Met has done a rubbish job on this 'investigation' and Sadiq Khan has said as much. Sue Grey's final report will be submitted later today.

How much the Commons Committee of Privileges enquiry will be internalized to keep Johnson in the big house remains to be seen. I see that as another exercise in kicking the can down the road hoping people will get weary or other 'more important' things will take precedent. Unfortunately, the longer this can is kicked, the more dogshit appears on the carpet.

I was listening to a lawyer commenting on this and he said lawyers, be it criminal defence or prosecution, commercial litigation or contractual legalese, listen to or read the words and need to work out the meaning and/or intent of words plus any and all other interpretations of those words, be they spoken or written.

On 8 December 2020, Labour MP Catherine West asked Mr Johnson in the Commons if a party had taken place in Downing Street specifically on 13 November.

The first word that came out of the Prime Minster's mouth was, "No, ..." followed by "but I am sure that whatever happened, the guidance was followed and the rules were followed at all times."

As he has now been pictured at something that by saying "No", he told the Commons did not happen, the Downing Street lawyers will be working overtime. There was also the party at his flat later the same day that if I recall correctly he was arbitrarily fined by the Met despite the Tories lamentably weak "ambushed by cake" obfuscation.

The Commons Committee of Privileges investigation is supposed to commence on the conclusion of the police investigation. Their website indicates that it hasn't been triggered yet.

In the meantime, Transport Secretary and lead sphincter kisser Grant Shapps is doing a brilliant job of double-entendre while defending the indefensible on ITV when he claimed, “He didn’t knowingly lie, I think what happened is he stepped into something."

Yes he did Grant and he's dragging it all over the carpeted halls of #10 and the UK's Parliament.
