A wins a win, but the 8000 labour votes that Galloway took away very nearly cost them.
The Torys are saying they are disappointed not to win the seat (like it had been predicted), but in truth they would have been hard pushed to explain away an 8000 loss had Galloway not split the labour vote

"The red wall aint quite crumbling yet."

but

The Blue Privvy hedge appears to be showing serious signs of Anti Dutch/French/German/Greek Elm desease

Galloway didnt take Labour voters. His votes were based on his Palestinian support - many Muslims in Batley and Spen are Tories.

Tory cronyism is spiraling to dizzying new heights as they circle the wagons on the Greensill scandal.

Cabinet Secretary Gove has short-circuited the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee's plans to hear evidence from Sue Gray. She was the government's then ethics advisor, who oversaw one of the key decisions made during the course of the episode. Using some arcane rule of civil servantry, he has said that since she is now employed as HIS second permanent secretary, he will give evidence in her place.

"Asked to explain his reasoning, the minister effectively said the advisor should not appear in front of the parliamentary committee because he did not want her to.

Mr Gove said that serving civil servants should "act only in accordance with the wishes of Ministers" and that "therefore it is rarely appropriate for them to appear to be questioned in the way" the committee wished.

He added: "I am ready, willing and able to appear in front of the Committee, but it is my view that it would be inappropriate for a serving civil servant to appear in the way that my honourable friend requests."

Meanwhile, it appears that former PM David Cameron who has already waffled and obfuscated his way through his appearance before the Committee was holding down an advisory position with Greensill that paid him more than $40,000 a day. This sort of stuff happens when you go to the right school.

One day left for Bojo to use some common sense for a change and retain mask wearing in public by law after 19th (not like there's more daily infections this week than anytime since January is it)

Mind you It would be typical if he maintained the Tory ethos of many generations ...."I'm alright Jack, sod those less well off" ...... If my buddies don't wanna wear a mask let them breathe their covid germs over everyone, regardless of if they are young and fit or aged and infirm ........ it's them that's gonna die not me

The U.K.'s summer reopening and the global repercussions thereof will not only define the British PM's place in history but that of the whole nation. With the Euro 2020 sideshow not quite delivering on its frantic, pre-final promises, the spotlight is back on the blonde buffoon and his coterie of ne'erdowells.

Methinks Hank Wanksock is well out of it while Obergruppenführer Gove is trying to remember if he packed a set of jumper leads.

Bojo does ANOTHER "U" turn ........

After the health minister contracted Covid many of the Downing St "Inner circle" were "pinged" and told to self isolate.
Bojo announced that as it was now "freedom day" they would continue to work.
Joe public pointed out that 1000 Iceland employees and tens of thousands of others were still required to self isolate, so why (once again) one rule for some and another for everyone else.
BOJO and many cabinet members are now self isolating

Self evident I would have thought, statts.

Did any of the Iceland 1000 go to Eton/Harrow/Winchester?

It is well recognised in Oz that the white history of the country was founded on the Poms sending their supposed crims and dregs - fortunately the class system was pretty much left behind to fester in the home country.

They complain about all the Indian subcontinent having an unlawful "caste" system, its out in the open there, as opposed to hidden away out of sight in UK. Sometimes it raises its ugly head, but someone quickly deflects it with the racism/sexist cards and its all swept under the carpet until safely forgotten

Or it could be just common sense? The 1000 Iceland workers are hardly pivotal to the ongoing management of the UK and its economy. As a general rule, they also live and socialise in much closer contact to others.

If you were in the UK, you would know that there are many businesses who hush up Covid outbreaks to avoid staff being pinged. The great British public dont need much encouragement to have a week off at their employers expense.

The PM ultimately did the correct thing to set an example.

I suppose if the example he wanted to set was Ill try get away with anything coz of who I am until public outcry forces me to do what I dont fancy doing .............. he set a perfect example

BTW ..... special mention for Robert Jenrick who was the puppy thrown to the wolves to explain why BOJO was being allowed to do what others were being stopped from doing on national TV (and making a fairly good fist of it considering), only to find out less than 2 hrs later that BOJO had done another U ee and dropped him in it again :-"

worth a watch ....

Just noticed another Classic Bojoism ............

Good old Boris has changed the Green list to include Bulgaria which means that after your sunshine holiday abroad you do not have to quarantine for 14 days on return \:D/ :guiness: :-({|= :guitar:

One minor problem though .... hes done it on the very day that Bulgaria has put UK on its Red list meaning only Bulgarian Nationals will be allowed to enter from UK.

Now, please do not try to tell me that the FO did not know about this in advance [-X [-X [-X

^ The whole green/not going to be green for long/amber/not going to be amber for long/red travel list is worthless when it doesn't consider what the reciprocal arrangements are. More vapid wankery by some civil servant who's daddy was probably someone's best bumboy at Eton.

Also, today it was announced that the border force may be will no longer be checking your documents on entry at heathrow unless from a red list country.

BUT when i returned last week i was just waved through to the e-passport gates and no other checks done. I could have been a red list person and wouldn't have been stopped .... so the checks rely on the country you are leaving doing it. Sloppy.

Police Beat Protesters, Arrest 11 at MASSIVE “Freedom Day” Demonstration in London; More Lockdowns Looming
On Monday, after over a year, the last of the UK’s Covid restrictions were finally lifted. Instead of being able to celebrate a feeling of normalcy, thousands of protesters took to the streets of London because of the possibility that more lockdowns and even vaccine passports could be coming very soon.

The massive crowd gathered at Parliament Square near Westminster Palace. They chanted “Freedom” and held signs that showed their frustration with the authoritarian lock-down measures.
The people of London, Cuba, Taiwan, Hong Kong, France, and numerous other places around the world have had enough of their governments using the covid hoax to tighten their tyrannical grip on power. They are all experiencing the same, if not much worse, brutalizing use of force as they stand up to demand their freedom.

The protesters in UK really showed they meant business by protesting against a lockdown that doesnt exist and aiming their wrath at a Prime Minister who everybody (except these idiots obviously) knew was 40 miles away from Downing St at Chequers .............. Talk about Free DUMB day

Beggers belief really, that the FIRST politician to stand up in parliament and TELL THE TRUTH, gets asked to leave .

Dawn Butler refuses to withdraw statement after calling Boris Johnson a LIAR in parliament

Cant have MPs telling the truth, that would set a unwanted precedent.

Probably not the first and that's why Parliamentary etiquette demands that an MP cannot simply accuse a fellow MP of lying while invited to speak in the House.

Sounds fair to me. If Blackford stands up and says to Johnson, "You lied," all that Johnson or anyone else so accused needs to do is stand up and say, "No I didn't." Thereupon Blackford would say, "Oh yes you did," and Johnson would retort, "Oh no I didn't." Thus any pithy debate founders in pantomime.

By re-stating or quoting something the PM or one of his flunkies has claimed as policy or fact that has already been seen to be rubbish, fallacious or misleading but then inviting the person making those dubious claims to comment makes for a more robust ebb and flow of parliamentary debate, waffling, toe stubbing, flubbing and panic (I miss Hank Wanksocks furtively darting eyes already).

Unfortunately, due to the permanent weak-wrists of the Opposition as seated, when Johnson flim-flams and wiff-waffs grandeloquently in response, one's eyes just tend to glaze over and change channel. We leave it to the press, LBC radio and Farage to use the "L" word in earnest.
