A big change in direction
A big change in direction
This article show a real change in the US. Many on here said Biden would be a captive of the Left, a socialist etc. Seems they were not that far from the mark. Biden seems to have conjured up the ghost of FDR, thinking that COVID has been akin to the great depression and a quite radical change is necessary to get the USA on a road to economic recovery based on Keynesian theory. It will drive the US deficit even harder.
Time will tell, but Biden has been bolder than I expected.

Bolder in economic recovery , YES, but VERY weak in foreign affairs. Biden should have done the following : 1 -Re-establish relations with Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, etc ..., 2 - Drop the sanctions against Russia, China, Iran and start afresh. 3 - Create a more cooperative climate with Europe, Asia ( China, Japan , Korea). Biden was an architect of the IRAN nuclear deal, he called it a great deal, so why not rejoint and further improve the deal ?
Etc...
Etc.
Biden cannot and should not expect any collaboration from the Trump gang, they only thing they know is how to cling to Power, and how to oppose any proposal put forward by the Democrats as it was AGAIN clearly demonstrated this week.
Biden go on your victory lap and then pass the voting rights bill, back in Washington address the World scene.

Re: A big change in direction
Just imagine how different things would be today had Georgia not gone blue. Mitch McConnell would have been Senate Majority leader and probably repeatged the same thing he said years ago:
"The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president."
I suspect there will be major foreign policy changes now that the US has a leader who understands that diplomacy is critical in successfully navigating that field.
Biden has 2 years to make his mark......50 or so days in, I'd say he's making progress.

Sleepy Joe busy sowing more seeds of racial division and animosity. The Covid Relief Bill is about 10 percent covid relief and 90% liberal garbage.
Farmers of Color are getting farm loans forgiven while whitey farmers just have to suck it up. Sounds like South Africa -- that's worked out pretty wwell.
This nonsense will end in bloodshed, and I, for one, hope it happens sooner rather than later. Liberalism is a disease.

^ That's what I was thinking. Isn't the first barometer check typically done at around 100 days in?
IIRC, at Trump's 100-day marker, he'd already run out of family members, major donors and sycophants to pad out the numbers on his administration, issued a few EO's to eliminate the low-hanging fruit of Obama's less important changes but very little else of substance.

I presume you're against handouts for farmers, of any shade, from the government. Trump was implementing Communist style collective farms by stealth. He must have been a secret agent of the left because no one saw it coming.Giggle wrote: ↑March 12, 2021, 1:46 amSleepy Joe busy sowing more seeds of racial division and animosity. I'm an old man and will not live long enough to suffer the consequences with the liberal policies of those who lead senile old Joe around by the nose. The border situation is a sample of what the liberals have voted for. In fact, I'll likely be better off and get new benefits. Being retired and paying no taxes, I won't suffer from the massive national debt that will cripple taxpayers.

Re: A big change in direction
Sort of pales into insignificance when compared to the $16 billion handed to the farmers by that well known diseased old socialist, DJ Trump. And rather than being relief from a pandemic, it was a direct result of his own policy to start a trade war with China.Zico wrote: ↑March 12, 2021, 8:44 pmI presume you're against handouts for farmers, of any shade, from the government. Were you worried about, or suffer from, the $6.7 trillion that Trump added?glalt wrote: ↑March 12, 2021, 9:23 pmI'm an old man and will not live long enough to suffer the consequences with the liberal policies of those who lead senile old Joe around by the nose. I can't see any record of it on UM.
Re: A big change in direction
LOL, 66 days in and Biden is already a failure? Truly amazing....
But hey, look at the stock market, it's kicking ass. Isn't that the barometer that was set for how great the economy is doing?

Biden was a fraud and a failure 40 years ago. When is he going to admit "gold standard" Cuomo is a fellow sexual predator? It's shameful.

He's an absolute useless stooge presiding over a badly broken government for 40 years and suddenly he's going to fix it?
FELLOW sexual predator? Do you know something that we don't?
I suppose to a lefty, finger-banging a Senate aide in the halls of the Capitol Bldg. is just business as usual. Nothing to see here ... move along. Repugnant, shameful and embarrassing to all Americans. No wonder the fool remains silent about Cuomo doing the same. They're all cut from the same scummy, hypocritical cloth.

No doubt that there are foreign issues that need to be addressed, and a few of them have already been, most notably the Paris Agreement, but I believe more importantly there are three issues that need to be addressed very soon at the local level, and that is healthcare, Social Security, and infrastructure. Unfortunately, the GOP now are concerned about the deficit, so good luck in getting anything passed other than through reconciliation.the-monk wrote: ↑March 11, 2021, 10:27 pmBolder in economic recovery , YES, but VERY weak in foreign affairs. Relief was given to disadvantaged farmers, this was not based on colour. Only 25% of those identified as disadvantaged were black.
For you to hope that bloodshed starts sooner rather than later speaks volumes about your mindset.
