Politically Drumpf needs a woman Vice-President. I'm confident he knows Palin won't roll in many women or even men voters. Who is he going to pick? She'll have to have a thoroughly decent sexual history given the muck that is going to be thrown at Mrs. and Mr. Clinton. May be Jeb's mum? OK, I'm jiving.

Quotes from Trump's foreign policy speech:

"America First will be the major and overriding theme of my administration."

ADL Urges Donald Trump to Reconsider “America First” in Foreign Policy Approach

New York, NY, April 28, 2016 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today urged presidential candidate Donald Trump to reconsider his use of the phrase “America First” as a slogan describing his approach to foreign affairs, citing its anti-Semitic....http://www.adl.org/press-center/press-r ... first.html

Lucifer / Lyin' Ted now seems a goner so we're in for a second northern summer of Trump. He seems incapable of acting presidential so we're in for a hell of a wild ride.

I think the American national interest is going to take a hiding if he gets elected. It will be spat after spat. Vlad will be pissing himself with laughter.

The Chinese miiltary's army of hackers will be chasing the dirt on Drumpf big time now. They might leak his tax returns which I reckon will reveal Drumpf doesn't make that much money. :D

Ted Cruz pulls out of Republican race
http://www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2016-36200431
Ted Cruz has announced he is ending his campaign for the US Republican presidential nomination, after losing heavily to Donald Trump in the Indiana primary.

Mr Trump, a New York businessman who is unpopular with many in his own party, is almost certain to be the nominee.

Earlier, Mr Cruz called Mr Trump a "liar" who was unfit to be president.

The senator from Texas had been seen as the Republican party's only viable alternative to Mr Trump.

"We left it all in the field in Indiana, and the voters chose another path," he told supporters in Indiana.

"With a heavy heart, but with boundless optimism for the long term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign."
Oh dear...

Vlad was probably on the phone to Drumpf today asking for half of Poland. Drumpf having been too absorbed preening himself in front of the mirror in his history classes, probably said "Yep, it's all yours Vlad if you can introduce me to some hot young Russian babes". Corbyn is shortly off to Munich. The Simpsons continues ... :D

The imagery in this quote made me laugh:

"If Jeb Bush was the slow-and-steady tortoise, Ted Cruz was the swift-footed hare (minus the ADHD). And if Ted Cruz was the hare, Trump was Elmer Fudd, who turned up with a shotgun and pumped-off rounds rapid fire. Unlike Elmer, he bagged what he was aiming at at, one rival at a time. Winners don’t need to explain their methods or apologise for them. They just win. They’re like Nietzschian Übermenschen – beyond good and evil."

DM , It seems Pork Pies are not the only topic upon which we agree :-s . On the 10 April, on the secondary Trump thread, I wrote, in all seriousness:
"Should, by some unlikely miracle, Trump get to the position of 'President Apparent"' I hope he will take note of history, (Lincoln, The Kennedys, Al Gore and even Reagan), and not make any long term plans. Also probably wise to take out massive Life Insurance cover, as well as to quadruple his personal security detail!

N.B. Not to worry, judged on his last post, Zid seems to be indicting that he is already 'girding his loins', in readiness to 'fill in' for him , in certain areas, should, Trump lose his current power to perform his duties satisfactorily [-X

Mrs. Drumpf as Vice President? How might Hillary respond? :D

I think Drumpf has already clarified that he's as good in the bedroom as he is at politics. Stand easy Zids.

"Artist whose painting of nude Trump went viral gives her account of being the target of his campaign’s hate machine and being physically attacked in LA"

http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016 ... -ilma-gore

It seems Drumpf and his supporters aren't too impressed with this young artist. If they aren't careful lots of amateur artists might try a similar work in support of Ilma Gore.

rjj04 wrote:Even if Bernie Sanders can gain the majority of Democratic caucus voters, he would still lose due to the "super delegate" (non-democratic, bought-out bunch) establishment supporting another Clinton. I found this article
interesting...

"An analysis of Federal Election Commission records, by TIME, which was published on 23 October 2015, showed that the 2012 donors to Romney’s campaign were already donating more to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign than they had been donating to any one of the 2016 campaigns of (listed here in declining order below Clinton) Lindsey Graham, Rand Paul, Carly Fiorina, Chris Christie, Rick Perry, Mike Huckabee, Donald Trump, Bobby Jindal, Rick Santorum, George Pataki, or Jim Gilmore. Those major Romney donors also gave a little to two Democrats (other than to Hillary — who, as mentioned, received a lot of donations from these Republican donors): Martin O’Malley, Jim Web, and Lawrence Lessig. (Romney’s donors gave nothing to Bernie Sanders, and nothing to Elizabeth Warren. They don’t want either of those people to become President.)"
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-02-2 ... can-donors

Could a fair number of Democrats choose to vote for Trump rather than Clinton just because they are tired of the status quo? Hilary was on the board of Walmart and did absolutely nothing as Walmart crushed unionisation efforts, drove the TPP for Obama, has never seen a war she didn't like, loves bankers and hopes they love her too, listens to the war criminal Kissinger for advice... I think she just might get defeated by Trump  It would be a sign of just how fed up some people in America were.
And we have an OMG moment..... the newest Reuters Poll now shows Clinton 41% vs Trump 40% with a 3% error, which means Trump could be ahead of Clinton already. I think a lot of Sanders supporters just will not vote for another status quo president even if it means electing a president that doesn't stand for most of the things they do. Amazing.

It is kind of funny watching expats make jokes and say negative things about the west and their politicians while living in a country that would lock them up for saying the same about their leaders. Something to think about.

I think George W Bush, the close personal friend of the Saudis, was the socialist. If I recall correctly he was the then darling of the Republicans. They ran up a couple of expensive wars on the US government credit card. Bush and his Republican mates were in some respects as left as a typical left of centre European politician. I see Obama more centre field and I suspect history will rate him fairly well.

Personally I would like to see an economically sophisticated candidate from the Republicans. They didn't seem to have one this year. All voodoo economics - ram up spending, cut taxes and reduce the deficit. Oh lordie. That's what happens when your decades old whistling dumbs down your base. No wonder a plonker such as Trump can be an effective candidate. I still think Trump is more liberal than conservative except when he's dog whistling at his loudest.

I read that phone opinion polling isn't reliable as some people are reluctant to admit they like Drumpf and that Clinton's lead may be smaller than the polls suggest. Against that I suspect the phone polling struggles to contact minorities.

As for the Republican elite still being controlled by nut jobs:

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/12/opini ... egion&_r=0

The case for that seems very strong.
