- Dems want to shutdown America. Clearly false, they just want to do it safely as not to lengthen the pandemic and cost more American lives.

- Dems want to give free medical care to illegal immigrants.
https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2 ... s-undocum/
ooopppsss, it was cars not cares.

- Dems want open borders. False.
https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2 ... orders-bi/

- 308,000 Veterns died due to not receiving proper health care under Obama. False.
https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2 ... -people-d/

Addition, as feel most elderly Americans are concerned with Health Care.

BIDEN CLAIM: Joe Biden said “[President Trump is] in the Supreme Court now trying to get rid of the Affordable Care Act, which will strip 20 million people from having health insurance now.”

This claim is true. Both the The Urban Institute and the Kaiser Family Foundation estimate that the Affordable Care Act currently covers 20 million people who would otherwise be uninsured. The Urban Institute estimates those 20 million people would immediately be uninsured if the ACA were repealed. Both reports say that the passing of a separate insurance plan could offset those numbers, but as of the writing of this article, no replacement bill for the ACA had been passed.

Biden's Health Care Plan. From his website, so you're more then welcomed to bypass all the other fluff/donation tabs-links.
Keys:
- Following the lead of President Trump, Republicans in Congress have only doubled down on this approach since January 2017. And, since repeal through Congress has not been working, President Trump has been unilaterally doing everything he can to sabotage the Affordable Care Act. Now, the Trump Administration is trying to get the entire law – including protections for people with pre-existing conditions – struck down in court.
*if appealled it would leave an estimated 20 million Americans without health coverage. FACT!!!

- Giving Americans a new choice, a public health insurance option like Medicare. If your insurance company isn’t doing right by you, you should have another, better choice. Whether you’re covered through your employer, buying your insurance on your own, or going without coverage altogether, the Biden Plan will give you the choice to purchase a public health insurance option like Medicare. As in Medicare, the Biden public option will reduce costs for patients by negotiating lower prices from hospitals and other health care providers. It also will better coordinate among all of a patient’s doctors to improve the efficacy and quality of their care, and cover primary care without any co-payments. And it will bring relief to small businesses struggling to afford coverage for their employees.
*covers the false claims by the President and Republicans, on not giving Americans a choice of medical coverage.

Covid-19 will most likely come up, so just a few facts to cover the bases.

What is the mortality rate of the coronavirus disease versus influenza?
Mortality for COVID-19 appears higher than for influenza, especially seasonal influenza. While the true mortality of COVID-19 will take some time to fully understand, the data we have so far indicate that the crude mortality ratio (the number of reported deaths divided by the reported cases) is between 3-4%, the infection mortality. rate (the number of reported deaths divided by the number of infections) will be lower. For seasonal influenza, mortality is usually well below 0.1%. However, mortality is to a large extent determined by access to and quality of health care.

Trump Timeline for Covid-19 Response/Action:

*writing a little biased, but facts and timeline are correct.

US vs other Countries in Cases/Deaths.

*US in the Top 10 for Cases/Deaths, when taking into account population numbers.

Using recent polling numbers, Trump's strongest polling category is the economy. Here are some facts for you.

* Pls note graphs are from Jan 2020, before Covid-19. Assume current graphs...as they say "have tanked".

Again, Trump is delaying actions that benefit the avg American (Stimulus Package).....much like his continuing delay in aggressively addressing the Covid-19 pandemic.

Both significantly effecting the US Economy.

Harris specific Facts (that might be considered negative, depending on who you're talking too):

1. Supports Pro Choice (Roe vs Wade), in additional late stage abortions where the mother's health/welfare is at risk.
2. Pro Gun Control. See's the need for new gun control laws, to curb gun violence.
3. (hate this one, but understand it's needed) Change to the tax law (which will most like increase the avg
American's tax burden, but will also ensure the rich and big companies pay their fair share).
4. Did initially support Bernie Sanders 'Medicare for All" bill, but currently is on board with Biden's health care plan.

I kind of feel bad for Pence. The guy has had to defend the indefensible for years now. You can tell he hates it, but I guess he still holds out hope for the top spot and the only way is to carry VERY HEAVY water for Donald.

Heaven forbid that Pence ever becomes POTUS.

Just caught the ass-end of the VPish debate. The combatants seemed a tad more presidential and a lot more grown up than their senior partners were last week. I think key to this was the Moderator stressing "No interruptions" after each question was posed. If the next Presidential debate does go ahead, I don't see Trump being able to hold his tongue for that long so hopefully they'll have a microphone kill switch as a backup. Based on a few grunts and squeaks from the VP while Harris was talking, it appears they were trusted with an open microphone.

If anyone watched the whole enchilada (I was battling the lack of traffic lights at several in-town junction this morning and then I find Home cable is tits-up), were there any faux pas committed by either participant? Any un-presidential moments? Any fake claims? Any significant points scored? Anything memorable?

You really didn't miss anything. Nearly all of the moderator's questions went unanswered. Seriously!

Thought both did a decent job, at dodging key questions.

My key, take aways (items unknown to me prior to the debate):
Harris
- No tax increase for Americans making under 400k per year.
* knew Biden and Harris was for getting the rich and large companies to pay their fair share, but thought the avg American would also have to take a tax hit.

Pence
- Haven't fact checked it, but the part about Biden being slow in agreeing on the Osama raid.
* playing Monday Morning QB, but this isn't the 1st time I've heard of Biden being slow on making a decision.
- Claiming that the Trump Administration has been transparent on Covid-19.
* clearly a lie.
- Obama and Pence terrible handling of the Swine Flu.
* people living in glass houses shouldn't toss stones, see link to facts below:

VP Debate Fact Check.

https://www.politifact.com/article/2020 ... te-kamala/

Pence did a good job at making questionable statements, without it being a full out lie...............with the exception of fossil fuel and fracking.

For a so called news outlet, Fox News is lacking..............

Try Googling the following and see what you find.

CNN news fact checks vp debate
MSNBC news fact checks vp debate
BBC news fact checks vp debate
CBS news fact checks vp debate
ABC news fact checks vp debate
FOX news fact checks vp debate
NYT's fact checks vp debate
Washington Post fact checks vp debate

Hint: Only 1 news outlet provide a partial fact check, and even that was misleading/taken out of context.
