If you have a Thai wife or partner, maybe check out those FB sites that tout local sales, rentals and services? A lot of these pickups seen traveling about are on one-way hires, running people of stuff they've bought to Bahn Nork. That way you get a driver as well and are absolved of all risk, anxiety and the like.

There was an infamous Thai serial killer down south that used to prey on these guys. He would pick up their 'for rent' contact notices from utility poles or market places, hire them on a one-way trip, get on the road, stop for a break, offer refreshment, spike their drinks and then murder them. Didn't do anything nasty or nick the trucks... just a normal psycho.

You've been warned.

At the time I did some serious mountain bike riding, I was warned to be careful of kidney stealers. I can't say it never happened, but to give up bike riding.....or renting a truck because of a single psycho, you may as well live in a cave.

To the OP .. a year or so ago i needed an extra pick up to travel with me to Bkk , i found one and used the place on Watanapong road about 50m from Tawang Daeng on the left , cant recall the name of the business but they had a then new smart cab 2 door pick up 1200 per day ..its opposite the Advice computer shop.

Seen a few 2 door trucks for rent on ring road , they come with a driver not self drive.

Joepai

If you are still looking to rent a pick up ..

Today i went past the place i mentioned in previous post ..on Wattanapong Rd opposite the advice shop , they have a white pick up parked on the road with a yellow for rent sign on the roof , looked like a Toyota Vigo or Revo
