Chinese new year
I want to attend to the Chinese new year festival in Udon but the two sites I've read give conflicting dates.
One says 20,21 and 22 Jan and the other says 22,23 and 24 Jan. Could anyone help with the correct ones.
Thanks

On the 25th, (Chinese) businesses around town will be blessed by the smaller version of the dragon parade. There will be a morning session and an afternoon session. Business owners traditionally light off long packs of firecrackers to ward off evil (aka Covid) spirits as the dragon leaves the business.
If you've never watched the event, you get multiple opportunities for photos as each business starts a fresh dance and more firecrackers.

More Chinese New Year related activity:
Prajak Rd, from the clock circle to Tungsrimeuang, 22-24 Jan, there are food vendors set up on either side of Prajak Rd. There are no times shown on the poster, but generally things kick off around 6pm.

It's already buggered west of the clock circle as they get the stuff all set up. Gridlock heading north about two hours ago. Luckily I was only going to Landmark.

Well, haven't they got policemen to control the traffic? What time of the month is it?

Thanks, but I am at the giving out, not receiving, time of life. It is all great fun just the same.

Re: Chinese new year
After two nights of putting up with bl**dy music until 5am and getting virtually no sleep, I for one wish they would take their ef'in new year back to China
Re: Chinese new year
Did that not happen last year, Statts?

Every blinkin year.
Question .......... Why do soundproofed nightclubs etc have to shut down at 12/02:00 yet morlam concerts etc are allowed to pump out their bloody row and keep everyone within 3km awake until 4 or 5am (even on weeknights) and plod just turns a blind eye?

Morlam gigs are a hoot though, aren't they. I'm not sure the Chinese have anything remotely similar for Kung Hei Fat Choi.

Morlam is all in the name of sanook sanan Statto ... oh n the local Pooey is getting a proper kick back enough to keep the BIB at bay.

Re: Chinese new year
I need my sleep these days and after not getting any for two nights I can think of plenty of things to "stick in the mud" starting with the bloody speakers (it might muffle some of the GBH of the ear 'ole).

They might have Peking Opera performances.

Re: Chinese new year
If they perform early evening and finish by bedtime then it could be Statt's thing.

Re: Chinese new year
Here's a clue to getting enough sleep. Stop sitting up to watch the bloody EPL live.
