School only 4 days open. Is this a new rule?

Post by phen » July 5, 2017, 9:04 am

My child from 12 years start in May on the airport school.
Yesterday she come back home with a letter that from now on Thursday will be a free day.
This is till December because 1 class with only boys have to learn for army.
That means that the other 14 class one get free on Thursday for a long time.
Is this a new rule or normal on every school in Udon Thani?

Junta already on record as saying the Thai education system is poor and needs attention.

So reducing a students hours by 20 % per week for 6 months IS NOT the way to resolve these issues.

Poor HR Management / rostering / preplanning at the school level is a start.

I would be knocking on the principals door ASAP and asking questions.

This isnt a one off situation, as these classes are run yearly.

" The Thai education system has recently been featured in the Economist, the article discussed Thailand’s international education rankings in the recently released Program for International Student Assessment (PISA).

Thailand’s scores have plunged to an overall ranking of 54 out of 70 assessed countries. PISA have found that one-third of Thailand’s 15-year-olds were “functionally illiterate.”

If they are reducing class time by 20% I would be asking for a 20% refund of school expenses

Certain schools have military training at them.
The school opposite the airport is one of them.
My friend works there and has confirmed everything your child told you.

Thanks for confirming that it is true.
But it doesn't let me feel better, because what young children go to do?
Looking TV and playing telephone and forget about learning.
I will look if it's possible to go to a tutor but maybe all to late for that.

The latest uni grads applying for eng teaching jobs are complaining that their benchmark of 400 score should be reduced to 250.

Sigh
