Out of sight of most Udonites, Rahjapat Univeristy, Sam Prao, grows by leaps and bounds. A new meeting hall, capacity 5000, is nearing completion

Yes, it's a fair way out of town down that road 'next' to Global. I don't know if the Uni provides student buses, but imagine most students have a longish ride on motorbikes. Also, not sure if essentially day students, or there are halls of residence.
Is the new building seen as part of a new International Sports Venue in the news a while back?
Of course, quite separate to above, a new stadium for Udon Thani FC is planned on that road too, nearer to town, although, I understand, no signs of concrete yet! If and when, I hope some thought is given to managing traffic, as it's bad at times now, particularly at the highway junction.

I read somewhere long ago that the idea of the Sam Prao campus was for new students (first year).....who would stay at the campus where all services would be available. Does any UM member have a relative/family member more familiar with what's going on there........some insight might be helpful for others thinking of sending their children there.

I drove out there last week after seeing the Udon News pictures of the huge new meeting halls.. The University has at least a dozen large buildings completed and does have on campus dorms built (at least four that I saw). Another dozen buildings plus the meetings halls are under construction.. The University has large boulevards already built with more planned.. A variety of dining facilities appear to be at all the major buildings and at the dorms.. Songtaew #9 comes all the way from downtown with scheduled runs to the campus.. The village of Sam Phrao about 3km closer to town than the campus location already has a number of student apartment complexes built...
This University is going to be very large. It appears the government owns huge swathes of land out there which will allow unfettered expansion.. As the school moves toward completion, you can bet that the city of Udon will expand out that way too..
Judging from maps I've seen of the planned outer ring road, it will pass just east of the campus..

From a source it was that the main campus was moving out there and the Udon Town campus was for MA and Doctorate studies.
Was has not been addressed si the road to the new campus, like everything else they will build have complete chaos traffic wise then enlarge the road causing even more chaos. lack of forethought and foresight, not my problem and hopefully never will be .

No information coming out of Udon FC (but that's not unusual) about their proposed new ground going out on the Nong Khai highway. I just wonder if they'll end up, sooner or later, using this venue, but it would be quite a trek for many fans.
