Where Has All the Water Gone?

Post by jackspratt » April 11, 2023, 12:42 pm

It is 2 days before Songkran starts, and not a sign here of full buckets, hoses, ice water, talcum powder or pissed locals (of all nationalities) lining the main roads and minor sois waiting to ambush the unwary pedestrian or motorcy rider.

I haven't seen any stockpiles of water, but there was a long line of gasoline trucks outside Central Plaza in Khon Kaen this morning. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come in the next few days.

Perhaps they are intending on "torching" the place so need plenty of gasoline [-o<

That was my first thought too including those celebrating getting doused as a change from tossing water on one another. This would add a little excitement to the proceedings

I had a bumper sticker in Texas that read 'Beam me up Scotty'. I often wish I could find one in Udon Thani

Went for a short motorcy ride to my favourite noodle shop, and the water chuckers were almost totally absent - certainly compared to 3 or 4 years ago.

It may even be safe enough for you to stick your head over the parapet, Dero. :D

Same here, drove back from Royal Creek GC to my home. Only had two bucket loads on the 35km journey (was bloody adults as well). Will get worse as we get nearer to Saturday.

I spent the evening at Poan & Cons bar in Kut Chap, mountains of fun. Enjoyed every moment of Songkran

If my memory serves me correctly, there is an official cut-off time for the water chuckers today.

Does anyone know what that time is?

Depends where you are, one area is 10PM due to infractions the other night, while the rest of the city is midnight
But you know that will be _______?

I know about 15 years ago it was 18:30 (if memory correct) might have been 19:00.
All finished early enough to safely venture out in time for 9pm football k/off in town
