According to my youngster's teacher, it's nothing to do with end of term. It's all about celebrating National Chinese Cultural Assimilation weekend. I think we have to fork out for something red for both of them to wear to their different schools.

OK, she called it Chinese New Year but you get my drift...

The 12th, Chinese New Year, is an official holiday according to this article.

It's all about bringin' never endin' happiness to the people. Apparently it was announced last December.

Deputy government spokesperson Traisuree Taisaranakul said Feb 12 (Friday) would be a holiday for the Lunar New Year, which normally is not an official holiday.
