I am going back to the UK and want to take the 400,000 I have deposited out , what is the best way to do this . It's easy to get money here but not to return it .

Advice would appreciated.

Easiest way I've found is to buy gold bars.
The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.

A bit if deja vu on this post, it's quite easy to buy gold and very easy to sell the other end, personally I've always used ingots.

Actually very simple to transfer via your bank in Thailand home, I used to get paid in Thailand and no issues with KTB to transfer to my UK bank

Can’t be done. You can not get Baht into TransferWise.

Deemoney may be A reasonable option

Yes you can with a very simple workaround. Open an account at most banks in Sterling, transfer baht to Sterling account, send via transferwise at a good rate and low fees

I haven’t reported back on the above topic as the sale of the condo fell through due to external farang influence ( not Thais or buyer who offered the money twice) so I only sent the£100 test but as you can see you can send up to $50K without any problems.

You have just confirmed my statement that it IS impossible to get Baht into TransferWise

You have missed out the costs of the SWIFT transfer (you can only pay sterling into TW in London) and intermediary bank charges and the TW withdrawal fee.

Since you are doing almost exactly the same as a direct bank transfer just adding in TW along the way, why get TW involved at all?

woody,

1. Open local bank account in Sterling
2. Transfer Thai bhat in Thailand to that account using Thai bank from one account to another
3. Transfer this to UK via transferewise

- No Swift code
- No placing bhat into transferwise
- lower fees
- better exchange rate
- transfer is usually completed in a few hour, sometime minutes rather than a few days
All wagers will be settled 80 days after the race is over

Do please give the bank account information for receiving a sterling payment into TransferWise in Thailand.

If you can do that I will accept that I am wrong. If you can’t then you are whistling the wrong tune.

As far as I know the Only sterling receiving account is. (Note I have deleted my Personal account number, there is a general account number 66620641 that combined with a personal reference directs the transfer to you)
UK sort code
23-14-70

Address
TransferWise
56 Shoreditch High Street
London
E1 6JJ
United Kingdom

This is the TransferWise Q&A for GBP
Where can I send from?

You can send GBP from any UK bank account using Faster Payments, Bacs or CHAPS. You can't pay by cheque or cash.

Cash works (don’t forget the customs declarations) but you may have to either order it or go to Bangkok Deemoney is another way there is at least 1 more like that. As long as you can show that it was either imported or earned the a SWIFT transfer also is OK
