Anyone know where I can buy an Android TV either in Udon or by order? I would prefer one already configured with English apps. Looking on the web it is very hard to ascertain which to order. If you know of one can you be specific as to which one?

Steve at TBar had some but the supply has dried up.

I have looked into Android boxes and they look very appealing. The initial cost of 5000 to 8000 baht then just the internet connection give you hundreds of channels of viewing, from anywhere in the world. Thing to watch out for though is that some internet providers can block these devices. I am locked into True Move for awhile and they block these boxes. 3BB does not though.

There is a guy in Pattaya that sells boxes that are set up very well for a good price. He has gotten many many very good reports. PM me if you want his contact information. I would have purchased one from him already, but I have a contract with True for a few more months.

I am not very techno savvy, so I need a click and play device. Some guys like to do it all themselves but not me. This guy puts it all together for you.

Hope this info helps a little

I use the same kind of thing in the UK, but instead of Android i use a Apple TV 2 connected to the TV, as these are jailbreakable and can have the XBMC software on that i assume you are speaking about, i would highly recommend that if you are going down this route thatyou check carefully that the unit is at least a quad 4 unit or you will you get lag and dragback on the streaming.

link below will show you what i mean, this one works brilliant, sorry its UK but that is where i am. ;) soon to be in Udon for little holiday.

Alternatively if you have a laptop or PC unit with an HDMi output on there you can easily install the same software and get the same results, i run this software on bott PC,s and my laptop too at home and stream many Thai TV channels for the wife.

I use his software to watch anything that is on TV whether that is a new programme or old.

The person that I described above will be in Udon in March and may be able to demonstrate. He told me that True blocks some access but not all. I will definitely ask him to try a box at my home and see how many English language channels I can get. Let me know if anyone else is interested.

The person on patayatalk forum is indeed the one I was referring to earlier. I did not want to put a direct link to him because I am not sure how or if he wants to promote himself and his boxes in Udon.

If the boxes from China are cheaper than his, I would still buy one of his because of his reputation of great service. I am not a computer geek and even a few thousand baht more to avoid lots of frustration may be a worthwhile investment.

I will be checking out his boxes in March when he is in Udon. I also will be looking at taking a box back to the USA for a few months and avoiding costly cable TV service.

I bought one from Tuk.com in Pattaya before xmas. Asked the man there if he knew whether Tuk.com in Udon also sold them and he said "yes because he gets them from me".
Mine was 4,000baht but got it down to 3,600. Has an android 4.2 OS, HD 1080P, 4 core CPU and a 16Gb H/D.

I used it to watch all the summer cricket in Aust as well as the Aust Open, Asia Cup and the Super Bowl.

Worked better in Jomtien than here in Udon i.e. less buffering and freezing. Don't really understand why because internet in Jomtien is max 13mbps TOT and here (Kinnaree) I have tested with speeds up to 39mbps?

Came pre loaded with hundreds of channels including the 5 Sky Channels, boxing, horse racing, darts, wrestling, golf etc etc. Also has many movie and news channels, porn including Hustler HD and Playboy channels and so on.

Has built in wi-fi so can connect to your router by wi-fi or ethernet cable and then a HDM cable to your TV. Can also use it as a media player by connecting an external H/D to it by usb and play movies through your TV, without the need for a pc.

If anyone is interested here's the web site for mine: http://www.meleshop.com

I've bought two boxes from the guy 430xc is referring to. He regularly visits Udon. First box was a Minix X6 without additional programming (1000 baht discount). Second was a Minix X8-H with additional programming. If I could do it over, they'd both be X8-H boxes. I have TOT fiber Internet. Sometimes the X6 buffers/stutters. The X8-H never has.
