The bee lives less than 40 days, visits at least 1000 flowers and produces less than a teaspoon of honey. For us it is only a teaspoon of honey, but for the bee it is a life. Thank you bees!

The short life span is only when they work themselves to death during the nectar collection period, if they are not doing this they live for more than a year.

John Brophy (ice hockey)

Paul Newman played in Slapshot

Brophy was a tough defenceman who played 18 seasons in the Eastern Hockey League, racking up nearly 4,000 career penalty minutes between 1955 and 1973—the most in EHL history[1] playing parts of nine seasons with the Long Island Ducks and retiring at the age of 40.

Lyle’s Golden Syrup

Lyle’s Golden Syrup was officially recognised by Guinness World Records in 2006 as being Britain’s oldest brand and having the world's oldest branding and packaging. The brand was sold by Tate & Lyle in 2010 to American Sugar Refining, though it still comes packaged in the same green and gold (and tricky to open without making a sticky mess) tins.

Krispy Kreme

A store makes approximately 20 million doughnuts a year

At a Krispy Kreme store, the machine turns on at 4am and begins to churn out hot doughnuts. Approximately 22,000 are made every day, which is 55,000 a week and 16 million a year. Some stores make a whopping 20 million a year.

The Camorra (Italian: [kaˈmɔrra];

Neapolitan: [kaˈmorrə]) is an Italian Mafia-type[4] criminal organization and criminal society originating in the region of Campania. It is one of the oldest and largest criminal organizations in Italy, dating to the 17th century. The Camorra's organizational structure is divided into individual groups called "clans". Every capo or "boss" is the head of a clan, in which there may be tens or hundreds of affiliates, depending on the clan's power and structure. The Camorra's main businesses are drug trafficking, racketeering, counterfeiting, and money laundering. It is also not unusual for Camorra clans to infiltrate the politics of their respective areas.

Soccer was banned

Soccer used to be an incredibly violent game, referred to commonly as “mob football.” It was banned by individual Edward II as too violent, likely due to the fact that there were no rules, team limits, and injuries could be fatal.

And how many years ago did Edward II ban the gentle game of soccer, Doodoo?

He might have banned some game, but could hardly have banned the game of soccer that came into existence 500 years after he died.

Complaints by London merchants led individual Edward II of England to issue a proclamation banning football in London on 13 April 1314 because, "...there is great noise in the city caused by hustling over large balls from which many evils may arise which God forbid; we command and forbid, on behalf of an individual, on pain of imprisonment, such game to be used in the city in the future."[2]

Thanks for providing the date, Noosard. I didn't think it was in the recent past.
