The statue of Queen Victoria is a copy from the same mould of the statue at Winchester designed by Sir Alfred Gilbert for the Queen's golden jubilee.
"Victoria, Queen of Great Britain & Ireland, Empress of India. Erected in loving memory by her subjects in Siam. 1903."

Re: Queen Victoria Statue
Was this the one previously inside the former British Embassy grounds, now owned and developed by Central Group? I read they were going to relocate it to inside whatever mall they're building as they suck up Chitlom/Ploenchit.

Re: Queen Victoria Statue
Yes, same one. They should move it to the British Club, but that might not happen since the British Club is private. It's probably owned by the Central Group. However someone should rescue the old lady from her ignominious location overlooking a Bangkok klong. It's hard to believe the Foreign Office did not make appropriate arrangements for its new location after leaving the old Embassy. Let's hope it doesn't end up as the centerpiece of the Central Embassy Phase 2 food court.
