Re: England & Wales census
One question ..... How do you get an ethnic "Minority" of over 50%?
Surely that must be the Ethnic "Majority"

The traditional minorities are collectively the majority now. That means you, the traditional majority, are now the singular minority.stattointhailand wrote: ↑November 30, 2022, 1:53 pmOne question ..... How do you get an ethnic "Minority" of over 50%?

Re: England & Wales census
Reading the article saw nothing about "traditional minorities" being in the majority throughout England and Wales, unless you are referring to the few cities mentioned.tamada wrote: ↑November 30, 2022, 3:37 pmThe traditional minorities are collectively the majority now. Not strictly true, Tam. The Leftie rag is saying some cities are more diverse with ethnic minority groups forming a larger portion of population while there are less in the general population who identify as Christian.tamada wrote: ↑November 30, 2022, 7:04 amApparently no longer white and Christian any more.

You need to be more specific if you're citing other sources - you're just going to get the old folks on here excited with one liners like the above.

How about Less Right wing of all the rags?
Re: England & Wales census
Sure, if it helps Statts.
Hmm, I enjoyed your posts more when you logged on as Giggles. You were more entertaining, funny even. But now...well, you keep shouting at everyone telling them you're always right. Can't you bring back Giggles?

Re: England & Wales census
You were correct is admonishing me for misreading the article's content. Initially, I was made aware of the census findings on Sky News. That was focused primarily as the loss of white majority in certain inner cities and less on the religious aspects. Subsequent news articles, including the Guardian, have focused more on what they see as the growing redundancy of the CoE in the affairs of State.
You have your opinion on the Guardian and I only suggested that you shared a common opinion with a forum lurker.
I am not sure about your 'get the old folks on here excited' comment but by your persistence here, I take it that you are one of them?

Re: England & Wales census
Was just thinking about the "identify as Christian" and how we think about it.
If I'd taken part I would have ticked the box C of E and therefore "identified as Christian" even though the last time I was in a church would have been a cousins wedding in 1985, and the last time I attended a "church service" (not wedding/funeral) was over 60 yrs ago.
I am often in contact with family who's ancestors left UK for America/Australia in 18th/19thC, and am regularly taken back by their constant use of christianity in day to day actions.
If I'm doing some research I may get a note from an old Aunt in UK which will end with a throwaway line "God Bless" at the end, but if it comes from my Tennessee/Texas family (which numbers in the hundreds) It will almost always have comments about God being with me/God showing me the light/God telling me where to look etc etc
From contacts made via facebook etc it's quite obvious that the church is a huge part of these peoples lives, with many attending either the church service or taking part in a church activity almost every day.

Re: England & Wales census
Do it again.
Back to the 2021 Census, 3.8% of the population are HM Forces veterans.

Re: England & Wales census
Does that include the vast amount of ex SAS SBS vets currently spending part of the year in Thailand?

What do you mean "part of the year"?stattointhailand wrote: ↑December 3, 2022, 11:22 amDoes that include the vast amount of ex SAS SBS vets currently spending part of the year in Thailand?

Re: England & Wales census
I don't know, Statts. It makes me wonder how the Census sourced its figures - was it a question on the form submitted on the day? And how many of these former SF operatives exist in UTH? It could skew HMG's figures if they were living it up in Thailand during the UK Census.stattointhailand wrote: ↑December 3, 2022, 11:22 amDoes that include the vast amount of ex SAS SBS vets currently spending part of the year in Thailand?
