Re: Airline Safety
These airlines "can be unsafe" so nobody's being blocked or barred and most fleets are parked up anyway.

Re: Airline Safety
So, obviously, I assume if they are deemed "unsafe" they have all been banned from using US airspace
Re: Airline Safety
Personally judging by the enormous length of time many Airline fleets have been static , I would rather wait another year to see most planes back flying and all faults cleared up .
I remember back in distant days when the Tristar planes had a problem due in part to American maintainance guys using a large forklift to re-secure a planes engine as opposed to a mandatory frame with the ability to life it safely and securely .
But then I am sure ALL American servicing is ion line with manufacturers guidlines !!!!!!!. So calling other airlines unsafe is a tad hypocritical in my book

Re: Airline Safety
A little proof please, like a link to an article etc.
Re: Airline Safety
I don't have a link, but I do remember up until quite a few years ago, 2012 I believe, Thai Airways used to fly non-stop between Bangkok and Los Angeles. Apparently the FAA claimed that they failed an audit and had 90 days to correct it, but Thai Airways didn't. So apparently they are no longer allowed to fly in US airspace, or maybe just into the airports. They have been on a list for quite a few years now, I'm guessing it's just due to not meeting US safety standards. There's more to the story I'm sure, but that's what I remember.

I never did find the Reuters article it refers to.

Re: Airline Safety
Thanks for link Mak. Reading the article it doesn't say the Airlines themselves are not safe it says 'International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) program measures the safety of countries and not carriers." For Thailand this has been in effect for a few years now.
