btw never knew what boxing day is about and why the Boxing name ??
Ah, what a great opportunity for the American to educate the Brit about a British tradition!!

According to the OED, Boxing Day traditionally was:
the first weekday after Christmas day, observed as a holiday on which postmen, errand boys, and servants of various kinds expect to receive a Christmas box.

The term "Christmas box" dates back to the 17th century, and among other things meant:

A present or gratuity given at Christmas: in Great Britain, usually confined to gratuities given to those who are supposed to have a vague claim upon the donor for services rendered to him as one of the general public by whom they are employed and paid, or as a customer of their legal employer; the undefined theory being that as they have done offices for this person, for which he has not directly paid them, some direct acknowledgement is becoming at Christmas.
And this from the Encyclopedia Brittanica:
In Britain, it was a custom for tradesmen to collect "Christmas boxes" of money or presents on the first weekday after Christmas as thanks for good service throughout the year.

Yes indeed Vlad .. 16 years ago .. time flies.

I was on Jomtien beach having a few Boxing day beverages and received a call from my father to ask my whereabouts as he was following the Tsunami back in the UK that was the first i knew of it and its seriousness never really kicked in until the true horror came to light.

It's quite alright to use the traditional Christmas greeting rather than Happy Crimbo. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too.

Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing o'er the plains,
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains.
Refrain
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strains prolong?
What the gladsome tidings be
Which inspire your heavenly song?

Refrain

Come to Bethlehem and see
Him whose birth the angels sing;
Come, adore on bended knee,
Christ the Lord, the newborn individual.

Refrain

See Him in a manger laid,
Whom the choirs of angels praise;
Mary, Joseph, lend your aid,
While our hearts in love we raise.

Refrain
"Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." - Ephesians 6:11
