One of my favourite tracks of all time but I didn't know it was about heroine until years after, I assumed it was about getting a tan, i know, very dim and naive.
The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.

Good band and certainly an acquired taste. I liked them back in the day.
His organ playing was central to the majority of their music.
Skin Deep and Peaches were 2 sounds that stick out for me.

Might have to sit back and YouTube their greatest hits album this arvo.

Has bought back memories of driving around England and Scotland in a cortina with 3 Aussie mates in 1980. Lot of new music for us.
Plenty of good Pom music in pubs.

The Undertones were a new band to us.

My first car was a Cortina 2000e, they were lovely cars, had a cassette player in it too with a push button radio, all fine and dandy until the tapes screwed up in the machine, always needed a Bic biro in the car just in case.

Thanks DM.
The old Bluetooth Bose speaker is getting a work out this morning.
Very very distinctive British sound at that period when the true punk rock era was transitioning.
The Brit girls were interested in fraternising with us a wee bit. Us surfy types with longish blonde hair. Local lads always giving us the evil eye. They learnt that charm beats brawn with the chicky babes.

Vince You may have bought that cortina we hired, did it have a John o’Groats sticker on the back window.

Tom Robinson has a band from that 80’s era, had a song titled “Grey Cortina”.
