if you read the leaflet from Tesco you may come to the conclusion that it is a matter of software programming.
the tesco system is verifying customer ID number.
never heard of any other payment service Provider then Tesco checking ID.
so avoid Tesco to pay your bills. go 7eleven or water/electricity office.

That would appear to be quite simple to answer samuel , the people at 7/11 spent time reading the "money laundering " instructions and have implemented them, whilst those at Tesco maybe didnt bother

The missus has to show ID in Big C Nittayo Road when she pays the Electricity bills, we don’t know why as we’ve never asked, I shall ask them next bill.

This is a good case of t.i.t. Easy to open a bank account in this bank but not that. Get a plastic bag here but not there. Get your annual extension easily at this office but not that one. Buy your beer only between these hours. At least in this particular case, there are plenty of other options.

We ( Well My Mrs ) has a KTB Account Only for 1 Direct Debitwhich is The Leccy Bill,It has NEVER Let us Down,had it almost 20 Years Now It's Simples I Deposit the money & The Electric Company Take it out Every Month on the DUE Date....

Years ago banks were not very helpful nor dare I say very trustworthy, times have changed, I might consider using the DD scenario to pay my bills , but as only three of my monthly 6 bills are able to use DD whats the point, the hassle in setting it up, ironing out the mistakes , ease of paying almost anywhere ( okay there are some minor hurdles ) , it seems rather pointless when a little time and effort you can pay, get an immediate receipt ( required to cast doubt on their out dated accounting systems that have on occasions stated I have not paid ) . I am at peace every month , pay the bills have the receipts and sod them.

I have K-bank application and also PEA application installed on my phone. Electric bill information comes to my screen on the next day after meter has been read. Then I just click pay and app sends billing information to my bank and I accept. Water I have to pay using K-Bank applet, go to Payments and read bar code from bill. Might be done more easily, but that is enough. Water company has applet, but it is in Thai.

Proof of paying comes when meter is checked next time. Of course phone and bank has data already.

That is the law, but never followed for example, those with a Driving Licence have their Passport number on it.
Some have a PINK Thai foreigner ID card . All the lime here I have never been asked for it, but DO carry relevant photocopies of it in the car in case of mishaps .
When I travel more than a DAY away then I carry it if outside Udon Thani Province .

very strange discussions here ....most of these complainers ?,when something changes abroad at their home country they will accept and follow like puppy's,and here they start whining for the smallest changes ,accept them and move on , if it does not suit you change your options...
fwiw ,i always carry my smartphone(like most of the people) which have pictures passport, dl ,visa stamp ...in case needed ...
and pink card is not a id card!!!, as info...
