In the US gun ownership is a RIGHT. ... The RIGHT to own a firearm is taken away from those with documented psychological issues and those who have a felony criminal record.

Kimmel's BS lie. 55555 Keep getting your info from late night hosts. 555 And you think that's credible after saying Americans don't do science?

You're from a society that gave up your right to defend yourselves. I don't expect you to understand, and I'll never try to tell you what you should do there. I don't care because I don't live there, and it's none of my business -- and I don't even have an opinion of it. But as always, you're entitled to your opinion.
Yet also one that doesn't suffer from school massacres. Certainly not on a monthly basis.

Maybe kids should be asked their opinions rather than just those who have been brainwashed by the NRA. The daftest thing is what Americans need protection from is other Americans with guns.

The fact that you would claim this tells me that all you know about the NRA is what the propagandists in the media have told you. 555

Why aren't any of their members ever involved in these types of tragedies other than to take down a shooter?

Read up. You might learn something. :)

I actually read about Trump repealing the law on BBC after the murder of those children , but couldn't find it today.
Is it true or not ? Did Trump repeal Obama era legislation designed to keep automatic weapons out of the hands of the mentally ill.???

Seems believable to me . BTW I don't know who Kimmel is , but seems more believable than fox news

Would have thought with all the scientific progress that has been made they would have identified where that missing brain cell went in the American Gene pool ..... somebody probably shot the scientist working on it
Americans don't do science , God created the world. 5555
And as God said "thou shall not kill" there is no requirement for guns then:lol:

BS = Not True. That term not used in your country of origin?

The legislation in question was attempting to remove gun rights from Social Security beneficiaries on disability -- without any regard to psychological state of mind, past record, etc. The bill was deemed to be too broad and a violation of both the 2nd and 4th Amendments. Even the Left-leaning LIB ACLU fought against the bill as a violation of civil rights.

There are already laws on the books that prevent the sale of firearms to those with documented psychological disorders.

It might be a good idea for you and all these other America/gun-hating posters to do a search on the gun laws already on the books. You will be shocked at all that people have to do to buy a gun legally. Read up.

With my last gun purchase, no criminal record, no driving record, former LEO and US Veteran and owner of numerous firearms -- even I had to wait 2 weeks for a Glock 40 pistol that I was purchasing -- and I knew the gun shop owner personally. Rules are rules.

Seems like it is relatively easy for anyone with ill intent to buy firearms in America as in very many states private sellers are allowed to sell guns without performing any kind of background check — state or federal:

I guess if you're not specific, it could "seem" that way. 555

A determined person with ill intent can accomplish just about anything -- even where firearms are supposedly illegal.

So let's disarm the millions of responsible and law-abiding gun owners and make them defenseless against the less than 1% whackos who are intent and willing to violate the law to achieve their objective.

Udon's resident arrogant wacko from the 'land of the free', where school children get blown away on a regular basis, but "you can't expect to come home from school alive", had to wait two weeks for a gun licence for his growing home arsenal, well that explains everything clearly now, always thought he was on a short list....

The 2nd amendment was adopted on December 15, 1791 when the firearms consisted of muskets and flintlocks. Hardly appropriate for the 21st century. It needs repealing to bring it in line with the type of armaments available today.

You're entitled to your opinion, but you and others on this forum don't make that decision. :)

There's a process for Amendments to the Constitution.

Once the Amendment is drafted, it is submitted to the states for ratification. 38 of the 50 states would have to ratify it. I would bet that California, New York, Maryland, New Jersey and Oregon would be the only states to solidly vote in favor. That's only 5 of the 38 needed.

If Democrats were as serious about this as they say they are, they would start the process; but they don't dare. They've got enough political problems without that too. None of it ever gets far because even Democrats know that the vast majority of Americans will not tolerate them undercutting the Constitution. Instead, they use propaganda and lies, try to find judges who will legislate from the bench, or Democrats write a series of laws that try to chip away at the 2nd Amendment, but fail -- like the last one wanting to prevent Social Security beneficiaries on disability from owning a firearm.

If taking out the 2nd Amendment was truly the wishes of The People, it would be easy to amend it.

There are currently 27 Amendments. Seventeen were ratified after the original 10 -- the Bill of Rights. It's not impossible unless The People DON'T WANT IT. ALL of those Amendments (except for 16 and 18) EXPANDED RIGHTS of the People. That's why so many were easily ratified.

And most governments with half a brain cell would realise that getting rid of muli millions of legally obtained weapons would greatly reduce the risk of the "1% whacko's" getting their hands on a gun in the first place ......... but let's not bring common sense into the argument =;

Certain drugs are illegal in different societies. That doesn't prevent resourceful people with determination from getting them. There are gun-free zones in America, but that doesn't prevent anyone from bringing a gun there. There are speed limits on roads and highways, but that doesn't prevent anyone from speeding. There are DWI laws, but that doesn't prevent anyone from driving impaired.

There are about 30 million illegal aliens in the US -- including visa overstays. Those in the federal government claim that they can't be rounded up -- despite having information on most of them.

Most people with half a brain cell would realize that if the federal government can't round up 30 million illegal aliens, how will the federal government round up over 200 million firearms? By the way, that would be illegal under current law. But let's not use any reasoning skills in this argument.

You can keep beating this drum forever, statto. All of this phony hand-wringing over concern for America and its guns by so many haters of America is hilarious to watch. None of you decide. There's a process for amending the Constitution. That's the only way it would have any chance of happening, but that chance is between 5% and Zero. Read up. :)

No 100% wrong . I know you will never stop usa citizens believing you need guns while the whole other world thinks otherwise.
First if there are no guns they cannot be bought so this massacre would not happen . That is enough reason to ban guns 100% . Most suicides and shootings are by people holding legally bought guns esp to much to drink and grab a gun . Would not happen if there were no guns . Most shootings are spontaneous in drunkeness or rage . would not happen if there are no guns .
Most criminal shootings are against other criminals and the amount of innocent people shot by criminals is very small . 99% ARMED TO DEFEND AGAINST !% LUDICROUS. This argument is crazy. I suspect there would be more deaths from the 9% so called good people than committed by the 1% by a big margin . Ban all guns and get more police . simple equation that the whole world can see except the nra which makes darwins theory very suspect when dealing with usa citizens

A LITTLE GUN HISTORY

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

56 million defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control:

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.

With guns, we are "citizens". Without them, we are "subjects".

During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

If you value your freedom, please spread this antigun-control message to all of your friends.

SWITZERLAND ISSUES EVERY HOUSEHOLD A GUN!
SWITZERLAND'S GOVERNMENT TRAINS EVERY ADULT THEY ISSUE A RIFLE.
SWITZERLAND HAS THE LOWEST GUN RELATED CRIME RATE OF ANY CIVILIZED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!
IT'S A NO BRAINER!
DON'T LET OUR GOVERNMENT WASTE MILLIONS OF OUR TAX DOLLARS IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE ALL LAW ABIDING CITIZENS AN EASY TARGET.

Spread the word everywhere you can that you are a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment!

It's time to speak loud before they try to silence and disarm us.

You're not imagining it, history shows that governments always manipulate tragedies to attempt to disarm the people.
