Gosh Aardy you make me appear like a Kiwi equivalent of Donald Trump. :D My receding hair doesn't look as silly as Trump's but my wallet is unfortunately much thinner. So I drink much cheaper Shiraz than OT and travel cattle class in planes.

Fortunately I wasn't in the air yesterday Astana when the invisible aliens landed disrupting the local radar systems. I suspect they landed to take ronan01 back. They just got the east and west of Canberra bit mixed up. :D

What a waste of public money
The head of the New Zealand flag consideration panel says attendance at public workshops was "modest", but has defended the $200,000 cost of running the travelling roadshow.

Most of the 25 meetings around the country were held in half-empty halls, with an average crowd of 30 people, and some as low as eight people (New Plymouth) and 10 people (Christchurch).

While specific costs of the meetings won't be released until the end of the flag consideration project, $208,500 of the overall $25.7m budget had been allocated for public meetings.

Panel chair professor John Burrows said that cost covered the meetings as well as information stands at shopping malls, libraries and markets.

He said the roadshow was "an important part of an independent, inclusive and community-driven process" and was particularly useful for people who did not have internet access.

Could this be NZ's new flag?

Personally I'd prefer jack's old and downunder's new avatar as the flag over that one noosard. I think the Duke of Edinburgh might agree.

They gotta go through the consultation motions on the flag. I heard Burrows getting a hard time from an interviewer about the cost on the radio. I too hope they keep the expenses down. Not much life in this yet but I think there will as it progresses.

Maaka, that's just about what my Thai Mrs wears on some summer days in NZ.

Yep got to get these expensive consultations to tell us what a flag should be
Give it a couple of years and 20 odd million dollars and they will decide bugger all
Hey but their little piggy banks will be full
So some good has come of the taxpayers money

4 to 11 celsius in Auckland. Bloody cold but I think I'm posting this in the wrong thread. It'll be colder down south.

Yes, I saw that on one of the westie websites. The big news in NZ is crazy Auckland house prices and concerns about off-shore buyers. Here's a link that reveals a bit about modern Auckland:

The Chinese influence is on the march.

Those rotten chinesse not supporting Lion Nathan
How is a company suppose to make a profit if 9% of the population won't drink
Or maybe it is better for the brewery giant as the non chinesse drink more now as in despair of the housing prices
I think the value of my sister's place has gone up 500% in twenty years

New Zealand lost 2% against USD last week
So called "Goldilocks"level reached
"New Zealand dollar does seem due for a period of consolidation, but we would not bank on a material rally, with the fundamental outlook over the near-term rather grim."
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news ... d=11483809

This article finished off with said gains against the AUD and Euro
but overall lost to both of them as well for the week
Had a little bounce late Friday trading

I'll pass on that swing Aardy. Perhaps uncle ought to give it a go. He seems pretty adventurous. This one isn't for me.

Australian Liberal Party announcements are eagerly awaited in NZ, only after Skippy and I Love Lucy re-runs, although I must admit I quite like Lucy.

Sonny: Gee Skip, whats the square root of 144?
Skippy: tsk tkk
Sonny: Are you sure its 12 Skip?

Similar thought in the English class for the term of gross ignorance in NZ, using mathematics and the 144 number

Take 1 kiwi and add 143 more and there you have it.
Don't shoot me, a kiwi told me that?
