Have Kiwi pollies lost sight of the real issue ?

Peter Dunne has spoken out to condemn all sides in what he calls New Zealand's political civil war. In this hard-hitting blog post, the government minister complains that National, Labour and Green MPs have lost the plot.
He calls for local politicians to unite against a common enemy - Australian human rights abuses.

Good of the Kiwis to be condemning Australia for its harsh deportation laws
When they do exactly the same with murderous consequences

Yes, world champions amongst developed countries.

Australia used to pride itself over being a bit dim. For example back in the days when Mick Dundee was promoted as a great Aussie male. So perhaps this is a great win over our Aussie rivals although I suspect Australia has moved on from promoting itself as not being that sharp.

It's interesting as to why NZers might be so out of touch. The link offers:

"There are multiple reasons for these errors - from our struggle with simple maths and proportions, to media coverage of issues, to social psychology explanations of our mental shortcuts or biases."

Auckland is also very different from the rest of the country and people in Auckland might assume the rest of the country is like Auckland and people outside Auckland might regard Auckland being like their part of New Zealand. And that would be quite wrong.

The increased return of Kiwi's to NZ has increased Australia's average IQ, and reduced NZ's.

One way to halt the dimming of Oz.

I think the survey apart from its entertainment value does raise some interesting questions. For example last week I heard on the radio a public health professional was giving up after nearly 15 years of campaigning for the government to do something on obesity. The same day the Minister of Health seemed to say a few more PE classes for kids should sort out the problem.

I see today that Turnbull is trying to put the brains back into action in Australia after Abbott had been trying to turn out the lights on science. Turnbull seems strong on the vision thing. I think our current PM despite being a sharp political operator isn't so good on the big picture.

I think ronan01 is trying to make a joke by reversing the conventional wisdom articulated by a NZ Prime Minster from the 1970s. Some of the returned crims are already in trouble back here.

I thought there was a more recent New Zealand thread but I didn't find it. Post in here pepesgrill if you wish to post about New Zealand. Then we can focus on the US in the US threads.

And the big news today, announced by Cindy at an 11 am press conference, is that Omicron is now spreading in the community. The current plan isn't to do a harsh lockdown. No doubt the decision makers have been carefully following what has happened in eastern Australian.

I went to the gym this afternoon but might not next weekend. I'm not sure as I haven't worked out my personal response. I got my booster about 10 days ago. Just in time.
