I'm a fan of the DIY stores (Central, Lotus) for things that get the job done for less. If you're in the market for high end stuff, DIY isn't the place to shop. I've found a good amount of tool supplies that get the job done as well as the higher end market stuff.
The other WCWD store in town is the 10 Baht store that is at the intersection of the Charoen Hotel-heading toward the statue circle......about 100 meters past the intersection on the left hand side. EVERYthing is 10 baht. Quite surprising what you can buy for 10 Baht!

Many years ago a friend told me that if I was buying something I have never used before. A garlic press for example.
Always buy a cheap one first and see how many times you use before deciding if you want a quality one.

Hm, there is a picture of the shop but when you go to the street map I cannot see the location of the shop?

There are certainly occasions when undertaking a task within the homestead a particular tool /appliance# thingamajig would assist and rather paying vast sums to acquire that particualt tool a quick browse aroubnd the DIY shop based just inside the large fresh veggie etc market below Makro often supplies the correct thing. Use once fall apart matters not as the cost is small.
I remember once buying an overlarge socket to deal with a Mini Hub Nut , paid over 5 Gdp (early 70's), used it once, so for small tasks the DIY shop with its tantalising prices is certainly a place I browse
