Just checked various sites and the amount of rain coming down on Udon Thani propvince has gone down from 10-20 mm to 1-5 mm. So Udon may have missed the downpours, but still have Sunday to navigate.

Looks as though Udon Thani escaped the worst of the storm, although the drains were overcome in some places for short periods of time .
Forecast is good occasional rain still filtering through in the next few days but generally allowing time for gardens to drain and dry off. Cooler but then it is that time of year.

The usually drier West side got hammered last night, power out at 22:30, after ~ 4" of rain - power back on at 01:30, then it continued to rain till daylight, be a week before I can cut garden......

Rain so often is mainly decided by not only the weather but also by the topography, some areas may get rain more than others. Normal routes are from Sakon nahkon way to Udon skirting in a notherly firection because of the hills and dumpiong on Makheng area and all points towards the mekong. Or from KK veers left towards Nong Khai or the other favoured route straight over the top and dumping it all on Udon centre as it did yesterdaY. the upper wind plays a major factor as well.

it certainly was heavy persistent rain here udons version of Marthas Vineyard ,, the effluent westside villas mansions all have guttering here unlike the east side tin shed favelas... i do remember a massive thnder crack that even caused mi Jack Russel wake from his slumber to crack an eye open.

Our East side favelas mainly have working drainage, unlike the West side where wellington boots are a necessity due to an excess of concrete giving the water nowhere to go. Dry enough here to start cutting grass again. We also have electricity, works better than candles.

Sounds like the East side is developing rick ..last time i went over there no electric , and even the rats had overalls on .. i saw a guy on a penny farthing as well as a horse n cart .. please to see its finally becoming habitable ovver yonder... next thing people might start opening small shops n bars restaurants etc .. so residents dont have to travel over to the posh side of town clogging up our roads and eating all our cheese cake.

weather wise a smashing day again today but all the sunshine mother nature can send wont stop me thinking about the innocent human beings that were lost yesterday.

Been to give blood this morning ,,very very busy at the UdGH, but i was dealt with very efficiently and in and out quicker than it took to park the truck.

Anders Lincoln
Author
Alf Nyström The past weather year.
As a farmer in Sweden, you were always aware of the weather. Spring sowing, weed control, hay/green fodder harvesting, threshing and autumn sowing: everything depended on the weather. It was about always being up to date.
Feel free to call me "weather geek" and it still sticks.
A few years ago, I got myself a weather station that records most of what happens around our property just south of Udon.
As the rainy season now seems to be over, here are some statistics from 2020-2022:
Temperature:
2020: Between 13.4-37.6 degrees Celsius
2021: 11.6-38.6 C
2022: 14.2-38.6 C
(temperature measured on our veranda in the shade)
Humidity:
2020: Between 50-99%
2021: 45-99%
2020: 52-99%
Number of recorded flashes within approx. 35km:
2020: 704 pcs
2021: 1991 pcs
2022: 2951! pcs
Wind:
2020: Max 37.3 m/s = hurricane force (July 4th)
2021: Max 19.5 m/s
2022: Max 17.4m/s
Rain:
2020: 1,037mm (during 210 hours)
2021: 1,283mm (243hrs)
2022: 1,662mm (230hrs) 1.6 meters of rain!!!
On the 20th August this year, we got just over 100mm, which meant that our plot received just over 113m3 of water! Luckily our drainage works.
UV index:
Between 18-19.6 in the month of April every year. Above 11 is considered extremely high.
Summary:
Significantly more rain this year and a day in 2020 with extreme winds. We have also had a long and cool cold season. On 29/11 2021, the mercury went below 20 degrees C in the morning. This continued until 2/3 2022 with a few exceptions. The longest cool period I have experienced in my 16 winters here.
The coldest record for me in a single day was on 26th January 2016: 10.2 degrees! Since the house that we rented was not insulated and the windows were in a bad shape= same temperature indoor!
First and so far only time I golfed in long pants in Asia.
Stay safe
