Rain Saturday Night, rain Sunday night and rain again today. A fair bit of flooding locally. At this rate the ponds will be full before the end of the month.

That added an hour to the school run. Lights were/are out at Global, total mayhem and not a copper in sight of course. So we took the 'shortcut' back through town and fai-dahp on Soi Sampan so sorry KP but I couldn't tell if there was any young strumpets flogging their patch there but plenty old buggers lurking in the darkness, drooling.

Yes, that storm did some damage. At the wat next door, 2 cars were crushed by a falling tree. Down at our farm/ponds, lost 2 banana trees which both had a decent bunch of fruit developing, not sure if they will still ripen; also one tree down in corner of field. A number of items in my new sala decided to take up flying!

Old timers might remember the July 2000 floods in Udon.....I don't believe we've had a repeat since. We had 13" of rain durng a 6 hour period at kilo 18 back then. Lots of untested drainage work done as a result (1+ billion Baht). Anyway you look at it, Udon's the bottom of the soup bowl.
The weather department has issued a warning for Udon/Loei/Nongkai/Nongbualamphu etc (all the areas in red) for the next few days. Might be a time to dust off those wading boots!

If anything, the Udon noodle bowl will have flash flooding. Blink and you'll miss it.

Well, have had at least 30 cm so far this month. Veg garden has only been above water for one day, sometimes 15 cm of water in parts. shop flooded once, and one day last week on the school run there was more road under water than above - car struggled in places to wade through and engine sensors have got upset, warning lights on the dashboard stay on (not a big issue as have had this problem before, in UK and Thailand, just need resetting). Ponds beginning to overflow banks.

Seen a few fire hoses out pumping low spots in the villages dry. And the wet season has only officially been going for 10 days......

Big rainstorm this afternoon in Nongnalam. All ponds are overflowing, only 2 weeks into 'official' wet season. Last year didn't overflow at all i think. Maybe like 2018? again? Couldn't get near one pond for 3 months then as whole area was flooded.
