43.5 measured "meltin" ,is it going to break my highest measured a few years back hit 46 for 2 day's , measured as in more than 7ft into the shade (not under a tin roof ,) out of any breeze ,

I have to agree with you Alan.(Jeez,did I really say that....must be the heat getting to me).
Yeah,I first came to Udon 15 years ago and have never known a prolonged 104+f heat spell like this one.
Apart from an odd thunderstorm you look like having to hang on till May for some proper rain.
May 7th looks particularily promising....only 16 days way !

One of those retired things........I kept lows/highs and rainfall amounts for 15 years or so......mostly because I wanted to understand weather patterns here. If I'd done that on paper, I'm sure I'd have tossed the info....but since it's in the cloud, I still have the data.
For Kilo 18......other areas may differ:
The hottest year between 1998 and 2015 (in my record keeping) was 2001/2005: 6 days in April 2001 that were 100 or higher....the highest 103. As compared to this year.....again, Kilo 18.......only 1 day of 100.7 as of 22 April. In 2005, we had 5 days in April.....highest 101, then another 2 days in May both 100.
2001 was noteworthy in other ways......it's the year we got 13" of rain in a 6 hour period on 11 Aug. Major flooding in many areas around Udon for days after. Since that time, I'd recon many thousands of soup bowl rice fields have been filled in.....roads, shopping areas, subdivisions in their place. Don't know when the next 11 Aug is going to hit, but it will eventually.
Finally, in all those years, there were more years of not recording a single 100 degree day.

Wow,kilo 18 certainly looks to be the place for the cooler weather.
Here near the palm tree fringed boulevards near Tesco Lotus Extra I,d say that there has only been about 3 days this month where it has been UNDER 100f !

We have just had the mother of a storm come through here at Nong Lat. Seriously destructive winds and torrential rain, direction was from South Easterly so all in the path take care. Worst I have seen here in more than 4 years. It's not finished yet, plenty of rain and T&L but wind has dropped Thank ****.

Patiently waited all bloody afternoon for the big show. Fantastic lightning show. Best I have seen any where for some time. Not shooting down to earth but spreading laterally and up from cloud to cloud. Strange orange colour. Must be the dust.
Now sitting out back watching over the pool and we have cracked the 1st bottle of red in anticipation of the clouds opening. Unfortunately not enough to wet the ground, but as the forever optimist and expecting rain have now slipped the top off the 2nd bottle.
