The Electric Bill

Post by tamada » May 3, 2023, 1:25 am

How many of our esteemed members were not given a rude shock with last month's electric bill?

My being in absentia typically leads to a lower household bill at Casa tam but despite one less airconditioner, 60 fewer showers, fewer laundry loads and less opening and closing of the dedicated farang beer and food chillers (and not posting on UM), the last bill went up by around 14%. OK, it is hotter and all the remaining appliances will be working harder but it did inspire Mrs tam to use the WTF?! emoji for the first time in our LINE history.

YES the large bill has meant I certainly have had to reassess my usage , bu in retrospect I reslised as pone ags, HOT weather affects me more and that initially having a dedicated room for Air-con to assist in cooling down myself is not really a sensible option .
It would appear that some relief is on the cards , governmental wise, but I still give thanks that I am NOT in Europe or the UK when it comes to Electricity prices and for that I am grateful .

What many forget is the 7% charge also goes up as prices rise and that adds also to thee bil

OK it was a hot month and we used more power as appliances worked harder but it was the rate that jumped.

Ours went from 4.344 B/unit to 5.4098 B/unit - something like a 20+% rise

yes from raising the FT rate last sept from 0.2477 to 0.9343 , more FT ,more expensive ,also more vat ...
however there are no changes in this months bill compared to last month , only more usage because of the crazy hot weather ,appliances and air cons working harder ,raising the bills ... ;)

My wife was shocked when she got her electric bill. It was 8,000 baht. She has a rice mill that is 3 phase with a 10 HP main motor and a 3 HP aux motor. That cuts deeply into her meager profit.
