If you paid 160b for 2kg carrots, you must have gotten some special type. Carrots going for 40ish bt per kilo at Makro, Lotus, even cheaper in Nongwahsaw market.

Re: Inflation
and then, as someone else mentioned . where
weight or volume is not held stationary. bottles
of drinking water shrunk to 600ml virtually each
and every packaged item, a fraction of former
size. yes, even the monkey balls, varying dimension. cup jok rice porridge now 20฿ it's obscene

Re: Inflation
Prices mostly back to normal.....Aussie/NZ carrots at Makro 35 baht per kg, potatoes 43. Most other veggies at give-away prices.
Re: Inflation
Talking about prices, I think we forget that Globally trade is still in the doldrums and Goods coming by sea however it comes are still being delayed, one reason not enough containers available as many are still full. Here as I understand it we do not have driver shortage , but we do have the Thai Customs which work at their normal in-efficent pace.
I noticed some time ago a shortage of pasta sauces, that seems to have been addressed just one item I know but an indication of the many ongoing problems besetting many countries.

Checking on construction materials ...
Sand , Stone , cement , ready mix etc all pretty much unchanged .. alas not so with steel ..with lengths for reinforcing all gauges , box steel and angle all up in price considerably and was told another increase due very soon with one supplier saying directly after Chinese NY.
Labour costs within the construction industry also gone up.
Once up will prices ever come down again ?????????????????

Re: Inflation
I think prices will come down. Right now people will start supplying products that are priced very high. As soon as the copy cats start producing they will create a huge surplus driving prices back to normal or even lower.Drunk Monkey wrote: ↑January 31, 2022, 2:57 pmChecking on construction materials ...

Re: Inflation
watched yesterday on the news, cooking oil up 60% , flour 18%, cereals up 42%. most of which has still not fed into the shops yet . the odd thing is they keep saying inflation is only 3.5% ? the only thing that seems to be stable is beer

Dont give that lot another bright idea of a way to kill the entertainment industry in Thailand
Re: Inflation
Yep Thai manufacturers are learning, Govt ups the daily wage, guess what prices go up as well. Amazingly simple but goes over the heads of most here.
