It seems the ethos has changed and evolved into something different than it was in the beginning. By the time I joined Beer Monkey, Doc, Ajarn, True Brit, Udorn La and Mortimer seemed to dominate the posts, and it was for the most part about non-Udon topics. It wasn't as politically nasty as it is nowadays although Doc was a bit ornery. Bob Helm, I thought, was an excellent moderator.
Most people do not understand Ethos these days ...lol
And after all the years of being sthood in Piccadilly Thircuz

Oh yeah, the monthly meetings, well, I only went to one, and it was fun to meet some of the guys. UdornLA was there and I forget the names of the others, wait, Big Wave Dave was present too.

As no doubt was a pooch and no doubt several other members who depending if it was before or after the smoking ban were either chatting at the table or over in the "lepers corner" having a drag or two

Thanks Fella's for the candid replies..
yes I see now that in the ' About Us ' section of UM, that the nexus of UM was about Udon and Thailand.
like some of you, a fella was thinking lately that the wheels were beginning to come off somewhat, and we had lost our direction with alot of threads...
Since oodorn is still a rather parochial backwater in a nation that is intent on gazing on their navels, what else did you expect the less myopic and slightly more adventurous and worldly to do but encourage open discourse, debate and friendly banter?

A plethora of helpful advice threads still exist and they still elicit the knowledge and experience of those that tread these boards (except KP, of course). Check out my 'hole in a wall' thread for the amazing flourish of positive and unbiased advice that was proffered. I have subsequently made TWO perfect holes!!!

There's a whole cornucopia of oodorn and Issan-centric threads to dip one's toes into. You really don't need to click exclusively on the 'new' or 'unread' threads, see the ritual carpet-bombing efforts of a few individuals and then whine about being disappointed with the 'direction' herein. Forum members have the steering wheel. Always have IMHO.

On the other hand, if one is worried about the flat cap mandates of the UOFCES, then I agree, some wheels, if not completely adrift, are being steered somewhat improperly.

Rumour has it that the founder, owner and cheap shot writer of that rag has been arrested for fighting some hapless old farang in the back alley of Khon Kaen. He wiped that snot nosed Canadian dry. Jeez, I sound like a sociopath, whatever that is. Happy New Year Mr. Aardvark!
