Good, hope he takes note of the condition of the road between Santi Suk and Kham Chanoot, will certainly give his hameroids a good shake up. I live about 7km from it and has been an utter disgrace for the 20 years I have been here.

Re: Bad News
nah, he'll be heading to Kham Chanot via 22 then north past Ban Dung. The Tessaban workforce was out en masse cleaning and painting road abutments and sweeping up along the curbs east of Big C on Rte 22..

Re: Bad News
I wonder if they will shut down the main drag in BD as he scurries through.
It was great entertainment, and source of mirth and discussion a number of years ago sitting in Eddies Bar on the main road, when a minor personality from an important family used to visit a centre named after them on the Kham Chanot road. The coppers would be out in force hours beforehand, clearing all cars, bikes and other vehicles from the street, and then manning all the side streets onto the main road, to make sure no one intruded.
They would stand around for what seemed an eternity, picking their noses and scratching their arsses, until walkie talkie traffic picked up, and the entourage of cops cars, ambulances and unmarked people carriers screamed through the town at high speed - including the aforementioned personality driving their own car. On the first couple of visits it was a Mini Cooper S, but later graduated to a Beemer.
And within 5 minutes, it was all back to normal in the street. In Eddies, further copious quantities of outrageously priced large Leos and Changs were consumed, and suddenly it was time to go home.

Re: Bad News
2 army helicopters just flew directly over my house, heading in the Kham Chanot direction.
I suspect the General is on one of them, or will be returning to UT on one after his visit.

Re: Bad News
Wonder if they remembered to play the MASH theme tune as he arrived ......
Through early morning fog I see
visions of the things to be
the pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see...
[chorus]:
That suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
I try to find a way to make
all our little joys relate
without that ever-present hate
but now I know that it's too late, and...
[Chorus]
The game of life is hard to play
I'm gonna lose it anyway
The losing card I'll someday lay
so this is all I have to say.
[Chorus]
The only way to win is cheat
And lay it down before I'm beat
and to another give my seat
for that's the only painless feat.
[Chorus]
MASH
The sword of time will pierce our skins
It doesn't hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger...watch it grin, but...
[Chorus]
A brave man once requested me
to answer questions that are key
'is it to be or not to be'
and I replied 'oh why ask me?'
'Cause suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
...and you can do the same thing if you choose.

Re: Bad News
Happened to travel through Main Street around 5.30pm. Maybe 5 or 6 army vehicles were heading back to wherever - away from Kham Chanot and Ban Dung.
I didn't spot the dictator, but one truck was full of grunts fully kitted out in camo, and helmets. Same for the couple of Humvees.
What's the country coming to when the "democratically" elected leader can't travel without an armed escort.
Got the full story of his ingress and egress to/from Ban Dung. Arrived by motorcade (see above) where he was met by the previously mentioned helicopters which had parked here.
Once the token visit to Kham Chanot was over, straight back to UT by helio.
Bon voyage.

The Prime Minister has visited Udon Thani to inspect the province's readiness for tourism reopening. The Prime Minister and Cabinet members also met with local villages and followed up on development campaigns in the northeastern city.
Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha's visit started at Wat Pa Ban Tat, a well known temple in the province's city district, where he paid his respect to the temple's abbot, and observed the construction progress of a stupa and a museum dedicated to the late Ajahn Maha Bua, a Buddhist monk well respected by Thai people.
During his meeting with Wat Pa Ban Tat's abbot, the Prime Minister elaborated on the government's development plan for Udon Thani, where he stressed the necessity of public participation. He encouraged villagers in the province to get vaccinated against COVID-19, which would help mitigate the pandemic's impact, among other disease control measures.
After visiting the temple, the Prime Minister joined a meeting between government agencies and local private firms to discuss Udon Thani's reopening and future development plans.
The province is now positioning itself as a logistics hub for the Mekong region with the "Udon Plus Model" plan, effectively promoting the transportation of goods between other Thai provinces on the Mekong River, as well as to other countries within the Mekong subregion, namely Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
The Prime Minister also followed up on the province's preparation to host the 2026 International Horticultural Exposition, which is expected to help improve the income and livelihoods of the villagers through tourism spending.
