I also don't ask for the 100 baht change. With 2 kids here, you can't make waves. I let the wife do all the talking and I just sign my name about 100 times (marriage visa extension) and hand over the 2,000.
Re: I got another year here..
Another year in paradise, well done. Especially the 20 minute in-out.
How hard is it to make change during the 364 days prior to the filing and have the exact amount they require?

Exact amount they require: 2,000
*Note: Factual info only, no complaining whatsoever. Is what it is. This non-immigrant is thankful to be able to stay with family.

20+ years living here and you are treated like a new arrival every year. Exact same process.
In that same two-decade period in the States as a permanent residence, you would have visited immigration ONCE only to renew your card after the first 10 years. Also, you have to write them and notify if you change address.
I get that some people are happy they've been granted another year extension, but let's not get carried away with suggesting it's easy, painless, and darn near joyful. The annual, and quarterly requirements for an ultra long resident are nothing short of absurd.

^ I thought that smarmy, cocky "rising star" that initiated that BS had risen somewhere beyond the Udon office. Has anyone pointed out the price printed on the TM form they sign or have they been deported already?
Re: I got another year here..
Just give them the correct amount 1,900 Baht - simple
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left

Simple as making a note on the paperwork for "future reference"
You wanna risk it .....

Those were the days, wonder if Mr Happy has been promoted yet or just gathering dust at his desk at the back corner?stattointhailand wrote: ↑June 15, 2021, 4:43 pmFact, from my own experience (about 20 yrs ago when our Imm office was in NK)

Re: I got another year here..
Yep it was Mr Happy that gave me the run round, people in bank not shown 100 % correct on letter, go get them to re do it, Hospital stamp on medical not clear enough, go back to Udon and get hospital to re apply the stamp clearer,'
Would have been far cheaper to have bit my tongue and paid up.
I think turning a blind eye is probably the hardest lesson I had to learn in my early years as it went against everything i'd been used to

^ Before my time and also before the more recent displays of obsequious kow-towing to these robbers.
If one wants to tip (have the "No tipping" signs all gone?), knock yourself out but you are not obligated to give them the 100 baht extra. They have no right to ask for 2000 baht. They have no right to 'keep the change'.

Re: I got another year here..
I think we are probably all agreed that they have no "right" to do it, in much the same way that politicians here/there/everywhere have no "right" do half the things they get up to, but the fact is, it's been quite a while now since I got any sort of enjoyment out of "cutting of my nose to spite my face" ........ and lets face it in them days we were only talking B100 which was only GBP 1.30p then
Re: I got another year here..
Mr Happy retired about five years ago. He hung around the office for another three years, or so, doing essentially the same work (out of uniform), but I haven't seen him in two or three years. He mellowed considerably toward the end. I'm told he now runs a restaurant somewhere in Nong Khai.

You want to bitch about 100Bath,go ahead..TiT it is what it is..paying 1000Bath for life certificate, well i think that's over the comfortable amount, atleast for me..But in the end if i spend 1100Bath a year for their service, well i can take that.BTW,had a funny chat with the 90 day guy, joking in Thai i think pretty much everyone had a smile on their faces of what i joked about, all in my less then perfect Thai.I left with a smile and that made me and them smiling too..that's what's matter to me in the end..not always money.stattointhailand wrote: ↑June 15, 2021, 7:57 pmI think we are probably all agreed that they have no "right" to do it, in much the same way that politicians here/there/everywhere have no "right" do half the things they get up to, but the fact is, it's been quite a while now since I got any sort of enjoyment out of "cutting of my nose to spite my face" ........ and lets face it in them days we were only talking B100 which was only GBP 1.30p then

Principle
noun: principle; plural noun: principles
2.
morally correct behavior and attitudes.
"a man of principle"
I honestly believe there are quite a few simpletons on this forum that simply cannot grasp the idea of principle and assume everything must be boiled down to a price.
