Cement Topping - Advice

Post by parrot » May 3, 2021, 2:39 pm

We have an outdoor area, no roof over part used for washing our dog/veggies/etc, roof overhang over part used for outdoor kitchen. The top of the cement is showing its age....and perhaps poor initial construction. I'd like to have the village handyman come over and smooth things up a bit. Is there a cement additive or separate product that would make whatever topping is applied adhere better? I'd like to avoid adding any more height to the existing surface than necessary........an inch would be about max I'd like to add.
Ideas welcome

Yes you can add a bonding agent, most DIY shops have them.

Thanks. TOA Superbond 112 appears to be what I need.

Check the paint shops.
A thick layer of 2 part epoxy might do the trick. Instead is a concrete layer. Can be rollered on. Ends up a nice clean finish.
Couple of layers. Give it a good broom scrub first.

I'd be careful what I used, that sounds like a very slippery (when wet) solution for an outdoor work area.

Add sand to the epoxy and you have slip proof surface

I painted the floor of the pump house in two part epoxy because I was sick of cement dust getting everywhere.
It doesn’t get very wet but I’ve been known to slosh around a bit of water when mixing up chemicals. I’m usually in bare feet & it’s not slippy at all
Age & treachery will always triumph over youth & ability
