Great local Restaurants
At a new restaurant which has opened on the road from up the back of the Nong Samrong golf course road heading to the temple. If you know it. Plenty of lights to guide the way.
Any way will post a location later.
The usual Thai method of cheap priced food and beer on start up applies.
4 long neck Chang 209 baht.
Meals, snack size start 49 baht and up.
Larger Thai meals available.
All food is good and ok.
If you live in the area it’s worth a crack.
Will come better prepared and ready next time for 2 times 209 baht Chang promotion.
If you have a new place in your area let people know.

Re: Great local Restaurants
is this Nok's old restaurant?
I had a bumper sticker in Texas that read 'Beam me up Scotty'. I often wish I could find one in Udon Thani

No.
Keep going up and around the golf course. The road dies a left the a right. After the right on road 2008 it’s about 500 mtrs up on the right.
Very close to the 2008 sign on the map photo.
Just trying to encourage others to identify good eateries in their local area.

Good to know new restaurants.
My favorite restaurants in that area are: Matcha Pha Suk near the Christian School and Barn-Naa Cafe.

Ku Garden by Makro is great.
The original one by Nong Prajak is too although not as extensive a menu

Re: Great local Restaurants
Has anyone tried "The Sea" seafood and fish restaurant?
The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.
Re: Great local Restaurants
Pass there every night and the car park is always full. However have never tried it.

Is that the place more or less opposite Boonthavorn?

Re: Great local Restaurants
I shall try The Sea and report back. My favourite Thai place to eat locally is in Ban Chan, do a left at the lights where the BBQ place is on the corner, go past Tesco Express on the right and it’s on the corner of the crossroads, nothing fancy, typical Thai place but clean, the food is very cheap and very good, my favourite dish there is the stir fried veg (I’m not a big meat eater) with rice and a fried egg, costs about 45 baht plus 10 baht for a bottle of water.

Re: Great local Restaurants
Went for a bday meal and ended up at the Nong Khai airport.
Lovely place out near the front “chic chic”
All snack type meals were absolutely great.
Even ordered more of a couple. A lovely salmon dish with just enough farang level of spice.
Few Chang to top it off. Band were good and not to loud.

There’s a bloody great Thai-air jumbo parked there. I assume waiting for takeoff after the Covid restrictions ease.
