New Traffic Fines Announced

Post by parrot » August 26, 2020, 9:13 pm

Thai police have published their new comprehensive list of traffic fines at http://www.ratchakitcha.soc.go.th/DATA/ ... T_0009.PDF
It's 26 pages long.......in Thai. I haven't seen an English version yet (other than the short version in Bangkok Post). Meanwhile, if you're wondering what constitutes a violation.......you LHT can help you out..

From what I gathered, heavier fines for bad driving, non-compliance of laws, etc etc, only works if enforcement is strict and working . We ALL KNOW that twice a month the BIB are out in force in conjunction with Bill paying time . Note to you all, last time was stopped for apparent speeding , ( which I was but only 2 km over the limit ), I said prove it. They could not so I went on my way happily .

The BIB hate when you question them, offer to go to court, they hate that as well, stay safe and make sure your legal folks, do not give them any chance of retaining your hard earned cash.

A summary of the fines are shown on the link below.
Most will not be enforced the way they should be especially the ones applying to vehicle condition.
I have seen some old pickups in the testing stations getting a test certificate when they are in really bad condition.

I must say it does all appear to be a bit Titanic and deckchairs.

Just as an example, I just saw a video of fines laid out in the UK Absolutely unbelievable ot I should say I dont think they will do that again
One was a fella overtaking twice on 2 solid lines
Fine 1185 pounds or 1185x41.5 = 49,155 Baht Thats a shocker for sure

So, whatever happened to the police issuing a computer generated ticket that could be paid through your bank, at a pay point, 7-11, or whatever..?? Then the linkup to Land Transport to ensure that those who didn't pay would not be able to get their vehicle tax decal until the traffic fines were paid???
