Thanks for the tip for the bread machine , Kopkei.
The basket of the old one is worn and I could not find a replacement , so I just ordered a new one.
The bread from the machine is quite acceptable for me , but I try to make cake as well, and it is a bit dry.
Do you have any suggestions to improve on that ?
Thanks anyway ,

Jeebeeg

My mum always said that one more or two more eggjokes makes the cake light and fluffy, try that first.

I've never used a baking machine myself but here is a link with maybe a few hints.

Is that you in disguise :-k

It makes you think how effort and organization goes into making those little things on the shelves in the bakery shops

Me, I am not a cook ore baker. I can eat the same meal for months on end, but now in my advancing age, and from lack of snacks in the house, I would like to bake muffins, banana cakes, sausage rolls, and bacon and egg pies..but where does one start..hard enough trying to get the missus to understand me.

Here's a good and foolproof start:Take vanilla icecream two spoons.top it with Oliveoil, gourmet fingersalt and Citronsest..easy and good-i-namnam ;-)You can add cashew nuts too on top.

I tried making some gem + apricot jam scones, and normal scones, and a and fruit + nut loaf, using my grandmothers old recipes and had some success. Reasonably easy once you get the ingredient mix right. Have a load of hand written recipes from her, some 80 years old, but getting some of the ingredients these days, particularly in Thailand is difficult.

In the old days, they used a lot of the Arnott's Biscuit for their ingredient bases, but those days are gone since Arnott's reduced their range. A good one was a Chocolate, Peanut Fruits & Coconut Fudge, using a Dark Maltz Arnott's Biscuit (second from the bottom left), but the Maltz biscuit is no more.

We had it good with the Arnott's biscuit range
